JetBlue hires violent felon as a pilot

Guess I’m just an old geezer who doesn’t recognize or understand the new world order of things but this just seems unfathomable to me…‍
How was this guy even able to retain his FAA licenses? WTF is going on with the airlines nowadays?!?

I’d like to see the LOR that sealed the deal.

The vaccine matter isn't really the issue here. Can you do a 709 ride for 'fit and proper' ATP holders?

Article is trash, that not withstanding ive had a bunch of blue juice friends express concern over this clown. Are we really scrapping the bottom that badly?

It made headlines when the VA hired him a few years ago.

Interesting looking at his social rehab efforts and self-promotion. AF Academy grad, B-52 pilot, violent felon.

If he served his time, then what’s the problem? Shouldn’t he be rehabilitated and fit to enter society?

If anything good for him and good for jet blue.

The old version of him sounds like a real jackass - but if he’s changed his ways then isn’t this a victory for literally everyone?

Not at my airline, but I’ve heard far, far worse from colleagues at other carriers.

Not all felonies are the same. The premeditation and planning associated with his violent crime is appalling.

I’m glad he appears to have turned things around but I still don’t want him flying my family around.
I mean, why not? If he’s rehabilitated, served his time, he should be fine.

Otherwise why is he out of prison? He may have been a giant • then, but he’s been deemed fit to reenter society, why should he not get the chance provided he is qualified (it appears he is).

Otherwise, why release him in the first place. Honestly, this is a good thing.

right - and honestly if he’s not fit to re-enter society why is he out? JetBlue shouldn’t be tasked with punishing people as some extension of the criminal Justice system. He’s either rehabilitated or not - he’s served his time, if he meets the other requirements for the job, why not?

Like straight up, the people pearl clutching over this sort of thing are hilarious. It’s not even like this particularly heinous crime is even related to how the dude could operate an airplane - I get being hesitant about someone who served time for smuggling or repeatedly driving drunk or whatever, but even then the guy is either rehabbed or not.

If you don’t believe he was rehabilitated, then your problem should be with the prison system not with JetBlue.
