Yes I agree that the E-190 is not a regional jet and should not be called as such. Its good to see that the E-190 pilots recently recieved a bit of a pay raise (not what they should be recieving but it was something) however now the 320 pilots are asking where their pay raise is.
The reason why i mentioned the Mormon thing is becasue i know that both Skywest and Jetblue have CEO's whom just so happen to be mormon (Neeleman and Atkin) I know that Mormon companies tend to be loyal and i heard rumor at one time that Atkin approached Neeleman about the possibility of flying as a codeshare before they had announced the purchase of the E-190's. (then again im sure at that time what regional wouldn't like to partner with jetblue) so yea it was just a wild assumption......
Back to a couple peoples responses of the classification of the aircraft and what pay rate is deserved. No matter what kind of aircraft you fly these days no matter if its a 777 or Cessna Caravan pilots are underpaid for their proffession. it doesn't matter what kind of aircraft it is considerd but what type of pay that you give the flight crews. As of recent I think some commecial pilots might agree that people are getting called off of furlough and majors are hiring again thus giving many pilots options as to whom they are going to fly for. As before maybe 2 years ago pilots would go with any airline that would pay them, this was especially true in the regional world and now is becoming true of the majors. I heard just recently that jetblue had a class of 10 new hires for A320 ground school and when the class was finished they were left with only 4 pilots because they had either gotten offered a better job or had gotten called off of furlough. I could be completely wrong however i believe that airline pilot wages will go up. With the way the "pilot pool" is right now airlines cant just lower their minimums and expect a flood of pilots to ask for a job.
Well this is just my take and you are free to comment.
cheers
