Our bike rides are nowhere near this picturesque but I'm loving going on rides with my mrs and the munchkins. Can't wait for the blocks of 10 days off and hopefully some good weather next summerRollin' with the Mrs. tonight.

One of the 2 guys arrested in December is a pretty good friend of mine. He was served paperwork at his home. So glad this hasn’t happened to me. It would be embarrassing to explain this one to the FAA, current employer, job interview etc...

Wow that's crazy, gotta play by the rules even if you don't like them. I remember being none too happy when we had a big debate about trail access going on and one of our 'celebrity' riders got caught riding the so-called Angry Ranger Trail illegally just up from town.

It’s kind of a mixed bag for me. I play by the rules because I’m pretty deep into advocacy. However I can understand why some do break the rules. In Marin there are 375 miles of narrow trail. Super rad for an urban/suburban zone in the SF Bay. Sadly only about 35 of those miles are multi use and allow bikes. The rest of the time you are forced onto roads or super steep fire roads. Because the 35 miles are mostly non continuous.
Also the two principal loops of 8-10 miles for bikes are pay to play. One is private where I do most of my trail work and the other is on public land. Both require a reasonable but still not free pass.
On a related note I thought this incident with the two doctors was amazing as it was a victimless crime that made the front page:

Well that’s a bike industry issue. Kind of sad really. The bike industry has done little if anything for off road cycling access. With exceptions of course like Santa Cruz bikes and local access issues.
Now out of the blue the bike industry forms “People for Bikes” and they get the state law changed in California so e-bikes can use trails.
Still blows my mind. I keep wondering what would be possible if the industry push was for trail access, rather than places to use e-bikes...

I recently moved out of the forever disappointing Marin County to the Seattle area. Needless to say I have been very impressed with the cycling opportunities here.
Duthie Hill bike park is insanely good. My riding has really been progressing. Anyway when the local kids are filming you hitting the big jumps, you know you're living right at 40 years old.
Stevens Pass bike park has a Thursday night race. Since I work every weekend this has been my only opportunity to race this summer. I'm currently sitting in 5th place overall for open men. Again, not bad for a 40 year old.

Wound up in 7th overall out of 19 in open men. The Thursday Night Throwdown at Stevens Pass didn’t disappoint!
Hoping I can hold a weekend off for the NW Cup happening September 9th. But I doubt I’ll get to go. My schedule sucks sooo bad right now.
