It's official

Sorry to hear that Boris, I would offer you a job, but I'm all out right now, and the..... (never mind, but mind you bitching isn't just limited to the 121 or 135 world)

When is your last day?

Supposedly July 1st, but I would give dollars to donuts the fed extends it a couple of weeks. They never seem to be able to do anything on time.

My plan, however, is to have found gainful employment elsewhere long before either of those dates.

Damn, bro!! Chin up and best of luck!

Let me know if I can be of any assistance....say...if you find a job in the DFW Metroplex and need a place to crash.

Wish I had more contacts here other than Eagle. I'd hook you up in a heartbeat if'n I could!

I have a feeling with all that MU2 time, there won't be many problems finding another multi-turbine postion. From what I've heard, training for the MU2 is like training for a type rating. Good luck.

Probably because there's is a whole SFAR dedicated to MU-2 training.

It's like a type-light, kind of, is my impression. First, there is no checkride, just the instructor signing you off based on your performance. Second, it's conducted in a level-c sim which is erm...of limited fidelity, imho. I learned a lot more flying the airplane with my CP. That said, I guess it looks better than nothing at all.

Incidentally, interview lined up next week at Suburban for a 99 spot. No pressurization, no autopilot, no 250-to-the-marker :(

Still, pay is pretty good and "any port in a storm". Wish me luck!

Hired.

Then I went to my regular job, flew in to a rainshower and promptly bathed myself in coffee. Upon arrival in ATL, I got ramped by the Federales. I think maybe God wants to temper my happiness...

Heh. Good call. I'm escaping from St. Louis in two weeks, which I'd call a pleasant sort of jailbreak. Not quite so thrilled about "escaping" the rather tight confines of the mitsi's cockpit for the ridiculously large (seriously, it feels like you need your own zipcode), yet HSI/autopilot-free 99 cockpit, but you take what you can get.

Incidentally, the CP said there's another 99 spot opening up. The bad news is: A) It's in Puerto Rico, and B) He was pretty explicit about having a stack of resumes as thick as your head already. The gist I got, though, was that 99% of those resumes are furloughed RJ F/Os, and he does not dig (whether he's right or wrong is a subject for a different thread) putting a guy with no 135/decision making/single pilot experience on his payroll. If there are any experienced freight dogs out there hurtin for a yob enough to brave PR, you might consider shooting a resume out.

Pay is $175/day + $25/day per diem (can't spend it on alcohol or smokes...I already asked). Crew car and hotel room provided at outstation, and you get your legal rest at the outstation, meaning you're at home on a regular weeknight for maybe 5 or 6 hours before you go do it all again. 18 month training contract for something like $8k, which starts pro-rating at 6 months.

Not the best, not the worst, but I did get the impression that it's a good company, and they're definitely very, very serious about good maintenance and don't mind telling the customer "so sorry" if it's not a good idea to go.

Best of luck,
Boris

I am really glad you got a job. I was personally hoping for you to fly a scary airplane, or land with a somewhat shady operator, or ideally both - because your posts would have been really entertaining...but I am happy you landed a job even though it sounds like a good company in a relatively benign airplane.

Reread his post Waco... "HSI/autopilot free"...

I get the feeling that future posts from Boris will still be really entertaining. :D
