For those who are interested. When you are departing out from the runway, you are on Departure Leg. You are not on the Upwind Leg.
If I'm staying in the pattern It's my upwind leg. If i'm leaving the area, it's my departure leg.
And... it's not final, it's FINALS, ya limey bloke.
You're right. I had a similar experience while doing a check ride for an excellent pilot. After entering holding, ATC told him he had entered it incorrectly. ATC was wrong, be we weren't about to debate it on the radio. If it makes you feel any better I had tower yell at me for doing runway heading when told to do so. I drifted half a mile south of the extended center-line and they had to inform me that I was doing it wrong :dunno:
Gotta love people not knowing what they are saying.:whatever:
Any traffic in the area, please advise.
Tomorrow morning, while working with EuroControl, I'll remind them that it's "Flight Three Zero Zero" rather than "Flight Level Three Hundred"!![]()
really...who cares?
Yeah, I know it's called the "departure leg." However, I'll continue to say "upwind."
Why? Everyone knows what "upwind" is. Not everyone knows what a "departure leg" is.
