It's all over

Sorry about the crash and congrats on the wedding.

Have you ever ridden the Park City ski lift trail? You ride the lift up and then you can bike down. Is that a real difficult trail? My husband and I were looking at it when you rode the lift on Labor Day weekend, but when we got to the top we didn't have time to do a thorough search cause our kiddies wanted to get to Grandpa and Grandmas.

Sorry to hear about the string of bad luck:(

But as long as you have fun, and enoy life in the end it doesnt matter:)

There is an old Yiddish proverb:

“If you have nothing to lose, you can try everything”

No longer shackled to the golden handcuffs of the elusive airline career, you have opened your mind to opportunities to build a family, to better society, and to leave the world a better place then you found it. Aviation is a guilty pleasure for most. Rare is the pilot who makes a difference that will be remembered a generation from now. But you and your wife have that opportunity. I'm jealous.

Godspeed.

Hey you're a local so you'll even know where I was.

We went down to the city and did Shoreline north towards the U, then went up that gulch that turns into a traverse that'll get you to Bobsled. That traverse is where I ate it, not anything technical at all! It was a huge kick in the face, to tell you the truth. I've made it through 6 ski seasons and this whole mountain biking season without one injury until this one, and it was slated to be my last ride of the season.

I can see how you went off there. I would imagine you just got bounced off huh?

But what were you doing riding in the SLC valley when there is no snow in PC? The shoreline is open almost all year.

Exactly what happened. I screwed up, to be honest. I saw the rocks up ahead, but didn't get off my bike fast enough to be able to float through them. It was a dumb mistake on my part, and got bucked right off the bike.

I was with a buddy that lives down in Cottonwood Heights. We were up in Park City sometime the week before. I also bike Park City all the time, so it's nice to go and see something new down in the city.

Hey John

I have no doubt about it that whatever you set yourself up to do, you'll be successful man. You definitely have a lot going for you! I dont think it's all over, it's all just beginning! You have a new soon to be wife! That's awesome man! You're gonna be able to experience different aspects of a career too! Have fun with it all, and i know since you're just an overall positive person, you'll be happy with whatever you do end up doing.

John, you've been a real motivator of me man! So saying that flying hasnt let you help someone would be wrong. Just know, that just talking with you and such gave me even more motivation to pursue my OVERALL goal, and not just in flying.

So to end with it, best of luck to you, and you're new life. Just dont forget about us on JC though man! Let me know if theres anything i can do!

John, sorry you've had a bad month. Sucks you don't get that last 121 flight to savor the end of that chapter in your life. You're a smart cat maing and you'll kick ass in whatever you do next. Go get married and I'll see you two in Vegas for some frosty adult beverages!:):bandit:

jtrain,
I know how you feel, sort of. I didn't get furloughed I left on my own. But while I was flying for Piedmont, I realized how much more I loved general aviation and instructing. Part of the reason I love flying so much is the freedom that you have. Airline flying is so regimental and rigid, no freedom at all (for good reason). Good luck with everything.

So sweet of you!

Meritflyer...that was CRAZY funny!!:yup: Cant believe no one else commented on this. Couldnt let that sharp wit go unnoticed.

Jtrain... best of luck to you with your new marriage, and where ever you end up in this next chapter.

Do good on the LSAT, get into a good law school, and become one of the top lawyers in the country that works probono for me :)

John`
Best of luck to you!! You'll be just fine, I am sure of that. If you ever think of coming back to LA area then hit me up, I'll always have an instructor position waiting for you.

I know and agree that sometimes just flying another leg feels that it does not make a difference in peoples lives but imagine this...

How about doing an Angel Flight with a cancer patient on board, taking them and their family to a specialist half way around the world. You just made a HUGE difference!

How about flying a business man through huge storms (safely), bringing the plane down to mins so he can get off and see his family that he has not seen in weeks. Huge difference!

How about doing a freedom bird flight bringing troops home from the Middle East after a deployment. Huge Difference!

How about having a child on your plane and them coming up to the flight deck and you take a moment to show them around. Probably a bigger difference than even their parents make at that moment!!

And my favorite, helping out a fellow brother/sister find a flying job when they needed it most. Huge impact on both parties!!!

Sometimes the differences are not seen by us right away. It is important to remember that we make impacts in peoples lives all the time. Sometimes the pax really show their appreciation sometimes not. But in the end they probably would not have gotten to where they are going without a pilot. I know its corney but I love my profession. I could have done other things. I was accepted to Law School and I hold a Masters in Accounting but this job gives me the gratification I was always looking for. Sometimes look a bit deeper than the surface and you might see a whole other side of the job you were doing.

I wish you the best of luck JTrain. I hate seeing a pilot being furloughed. But please know you made an impact on many people. You just might not have seen it. Take care and fly safe.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that, Train! I'd offer to buy you a beer on Sat, but youre are completely paid for, I guess . . . :p

Flying airplanes around is fun, and it pays the bills, but it doesn't really make a difference in anyone's life.

You know, it pretty much makes a difference in my life. It's my passion.

Damnit Lloyd...you're not getting the message that is supposed to be spread...we're supposed to be miserable.

That's exactly what the ALPA stasche was invented for...to mask a smile.

Lloyd, the same reasons you needed to join The Corps and serve are the same reasons I need to get out of this gig and do something new with my life.

Looking forward to seeing you in a few days!

John, I am proud of you for always following your heart. You found your way back to a great gal, and have always honored the journey. I know Winnie will have alot of advise for you on the legal profession. I'm sorry I have to sit reserve on your wedding day, very frustrating. Looking forward to seeing you in Vegas. Be smart about recovering, the small amount of time you do it right the first time will pay in dividends for years. Much love to you young brother:rawk:
