Is this the new reality?

Canadians are great to deal with.

Upstate NY'ers too, which is hilarious.

Rolled into BUF at the same time as another flight got in, the ground crew decided to deplane and start offloading bags instead of parking us. 25 minutes of sitting there completely dumbfounded as we're burning gas waiting, we final get to the gate and they're having problems operating it.

I give my best apologetic speech about the snafu that the operation is and people were apologizing to ***us*** about the situation.

That was odd. If it were any other place, I'd have a facefull of camera phone and people declaring that we're holding them hostage.

Hahaha.. if it was BUF your nice passengers were probably all Canadians, which explains their niceness. I remember standing in the TSA line at BUF one day and seeing almost everyone in line holding a Canadian passport. I guess BUF is a defacto Canadian airport.

Like Detroit. At my commuter hotel some mornings, there are a lot of leisure travelers leaving for the airport on the shuttle. Very friendly. But then, of course, I realize that they're usually over from Ontario to take advantage of some lower priced air fares.

Granted I have super limited experience, but the couple of times I have diverted or been delayed for MX the majority of people were patient and understanding (I guess most of them are understanding that you need to actually be able to see the runway to land on it). It'd be interesting to see if that's changed in the last month with the "evil evil airlines!" narrative the media is pushing lately.

Had something similar happen. They parked us and then said it'll be a few minutes for the valet bags as we're going to push this other aircraft. Guy comes up to me and demands that I go over to the ground staff and MAKE them come unload the bags. He told me to grow some balls and show them my PIC authority. While appreciated that he knew I was charge and he made my ego get big, I'm pretty sure the ramp guys would have laughed at me if I marched over to DEMAND they unload us. Sometime you gotta work as a team.

Not looking forward to summer travel season.

Subway ran out of tomatoes last night. A Mexican guy with a mullet, customer got irate, started swearing at the clerk and jumped the counter to assault the clerk.

I didn't see all this happen. But when I rolled up there on my lunch break, Chandler police were there in force. Told me the restaurant was closed, guy got away.

Until they're sitting in the left lane of the interstate doing the speed limit.....

Canadians used to vacation in Panama City all the time. One time I had stopped at a gas station to buy some ice before the beach.

Canadian: excuse me sir, can you tell me how to get to Tom's gay rage?
Me: say again?
Canadian: Tom's gay rage, im trying to find Tom's gay rage.
Me: uhhhhhhhh......
Canadian: my transmission is giving me trouble and I'm going to drop my van off there
Me: ooooooohhhhhhh GARAGE. No I don't know where that is I'm sorry.

That's what the penalty box on an airport is for; it's the place where airlines taxi their jets to in order to hold pax hostage, right? :)

Mullet boy needed a $5 footlong beat down. Too bad he didn't get one.

Oh yeah, the Canadian “twang” is hilarious. I live in a part of Phoenix where a lot of Canadians have second homes. They stick out like a sore thumb at the local grocery stores and restaurants.

My folks were from about 60 miles west of BUF...about as close to Pennsylvania as you can get and not be in Pennsylvania.

Nice place. Cold as all get out even in the summer. As unlike NYC as you could possibly get.

Speaking of entitlement "Entitlement is Still A Disease" on Facebook has been exploding with reverberations after Jimmy John's $1 sandwich "Customer Appreciation Day".

The clerk told me last night, that they got slammed because of Jimmy John's. (There's one across the street from the Subway in question.) Because Jimmy John's was so busy, people got tired of waiting in the long lines and walked across the street to Subway. Tempers were flaring over there too, a cop said.

So the guy who jumped the counter, I can only imagine that he went off. Because he was projecting his anger/frustration at Jimmy John's, onto the Subway clerk when it came to his knowledge that they had no tomatoes.

My boss got an airplane painted in Canada many moons ago and they were getting ready to put the N-numbers on. The Canadians asked if deckles were ok for the numbers. What for the N-numbers? Deckles. What are deckles? You know. Like a big sticker. Oh, decals!
