That's a pretty old article since they mention Comair academy. This article may have been written at a time when the industry was in a different state than it is now. It's written by a guy who writes a lot for Flight Training magazine. Now there's publication that relies on advertising money from the big academies and ab initio programs. I'm not surprised he writes a pro-ab-initio piece anymore than I'd be surprised at the things Kit Darby says. They are both pilots that have businesses which benefit from getting more people to enter this career. Darby has Air Inc and Phillips manages ATOP.

Don't mean to attack the guy but I disagree that ab initio is a good way to enter this business in this day and age.
