I was just hoping, I guess, somebody would say, yeah, I'm in JFK and my buddy is working that flight...I guess not. I'll sit back and see what Delta's big plan is.

The funniest part about all this is I told some friends over here that I was looking like I'd end up in NY, but not sure if they will continue the flight home...so both guys say, well just take Amtrak. Okay, is Amtrak running? Why yes it is (but limited runs we figured out later). Okay, how do I get to Amtrak...take the Subway to...I stopped them there. That won't work. Okay, take a taxi. I saw pics of a lot of taxis submerged, so not sure how that will work.

So, basically my plan is to show up in JFK, see what Delta's plan is, and if I don't agree, find a rental car. I'll keep you posted in a few days...

Currently it is showing as going, and it has a crew and a deadheading crew.
 
Sickcation means I lose 58 hours of vacation they owe me. That's a lot of $$$ just to et 3 extra days off.

As for JetBlue, they pretty much said if I get stuck in New York to call them, and I'll make it home to MCO. As in call the training people, not the Jumpseat listing line.
 
Sickation does not mean you lose your vacation. The contract only states that you have to give a two week notice to get your owed and accrued vacation. I left 9E at the beginning of the month and was actually sick for my last trip. I called in. I'm not going to fly sick. They still paid all of my vacation.

I've heard that some majors ask about your history of absences at the regionals and if you are at a DCI regional and you have a Delta interview, they pull up your attendance records and if you have a history of calling in sick, no go for you. That's how it would come up!

Then you fell through the cracks. From the resignation policy:

Calling in sick or other unavailability (missed trips, unexcused or excessive absences) for a pilot’s final days will not be tolerated. A pilot unavailable for any unexcused reason during the final (2) two week working period will be considered as not completing the final (2) two week obligation and will not be entitled to accrued vacation. Sick benefits will not be paid without a physician’s certificate supporting any sick occurrence during the period. The sick documentation provided must be submitted during or immediately following the absence, but in no case later than their last day of employment. The documentation clearly shows the pilot was seen by the doctor during the period of the absence, and indicates a brief description of the malady.

How often after you've passed an interview and been hired, does the airline hr person walk in on day one and say "so who called out sick your last week at your previous job?" Never.

It's none of their damn business either way.

The point you're missing is that they will ask you (or find out by other means) during your interview of your absence history and if they think it's excessive, you will not be hired.
