Is it wrong to go to the limits of a rule?

Nah, this cat swung gear on the E170 for a year, and now is apparently qualified to speak poorly about the 767. Oh, and that he should already be at Delta since he has heavy time now. Wanted to boot him out from FL400. I guess some guys fall through the hiring cracks. Just wish we'd hire deserving types instead.

Anyway, rant over. :)

Not sure I meet the "deserving" criteria, but tell him I'd be happy to trade spots. I'm sure there are plenty who would do so as well!

I just flew with another FO who carries a lunch bag with him. He came from an RJ right seat (fine), but won't give up the ghost in a number of different ways (not fine, but that's a story for another time).

"You know...we have food on the jet now. And there's an oven that you can use to heat it up. You should try it."

Some of us actually have tried multiple methods and prefer one way. I carry a bag because I like to have complete control over what goes into my stomach. I plan on that being a big factor in how long I can attain a 1st class.

Thank you sir, be careful what you wish for! Although spending a few days surfing in SYD would be a hell of a layover.
Honestly, I haven't been out yet in SYD. It might sound stupid, but I feel like paddling out to the lineup in Australia has to be earned. Not there yet. :)

True, but I should clarify that I work for a company that has us out 17 days in a row a fair amount of the time. Just no way to pack everything on a 17 day trip. You'd just come off as an oddball if you tried. :)

I totally understand people who pack food on shorter trips, or people who do it to bank per diem (have to do it at some jobs!).

Ah, but it can be done! Just not with the diet of the average middle class adult male, circa 2000. And it's not about packing for the entire trip on day one. This isn't 1820, either!

Was the dude making a fool of himself?

Yes, but for a multitude of other reasons that go well beyond the scope of this thread. :)

I finished up Sept having worked 9 days. Two three day trips and recurrent. Oct is off to a good start as my first two days are LCR, my first short call day is tomorrow with a 12:20 pm start, and the only things in open time aren't until the 30th and the 31st. Nothing is likely to beat August, where I flew two red eyes, and that was it.

I get that, I probably wouldn't head out at any of the well known spots but a little shore break, just to say I did, sure. That and maybe to get my first Irukandji sting and/or shark bite out of the way.

Bork bork bork.

Hmm hm hmmm!
