Is it wrong to go to the limits of a rule?

IT'S THE THIRST MUTILATOR!

PLANTS CRAVE IT!

There's a pretty robust debate going on over at BluePilots.com about whether it's "wrong" to pick up a trip from open time then immediately put it up on the trade board.

There are no rules against it, but some feel that it's "screwing" other pilots because the guy that picked it up has no intention of flying it. He's just trying to pad his credit. Someone else could've picked it up and flown it, but since he got it first, they can't.

The one side argues that he knows he's being an ass, so it's wrong and he shouldn't do it. The other side argues that it's legal and while it may be crappy, there's no reason to get up in arms about it. (This guy got his name plastered all over the site to shame him.)

Anyway, what say you?

It kinda sounds like those ticket services that buy a bunch of concert tickets, then turn around and sell them for a lot more than face value. As a fan I want to see the show, and I'm willing to pay the price of the ticket, but I can't because someone with inside connections is gaming the system for personal gain. It may not be illegal, but seems unethical to me.

Seriously. As bad as Airlinkpilots got in the thick of negotiations in the middle of the "last best and final offer," when senior/junior guys were at each other's throats over the bonus distribution on TA1 and anything else.....BP is FAR, FAR worse. APC is puppies and kittens compared to it. Hell, that other one that charges and rhymes with Might Info.com is probably more welcoming.

We just got access to the SWAPA forum today. You should see this thing. A bunch of captains making $250k+ acting like they've got the worst job in aviation. Good for a few laughs, anyway.

Pretty sure we've got a couple of those guys at BP. Granted to get to $250k, they have to be on the Bus and stalking FLiCA for open time, but you get the idea. They likely spend more time at work than at home, which around here, you can actually spend considerably more time at home than work unless you hate your family. I got an e-mail today reminding me of an assignment tomorrow. My first thought was "Wait? They actually gave me something?" Opened the e-mail.....they gave me LCR. Which, if you're in base, is pretty much another day off. I have 14 hours from the time they call me to drive to the airport.

The current hot topic on BP now is how crappy the new uniforms are (and every CP I've talked to agrees) and how all our careers are gonna get cut short because we're gonna catch Ebola on a plane and die a horrible death. Don't try posting links to the CDC. It's a government conspiracy to cover it up.

my biggest beef with our new uniforms is how badly the new shirts show sweat. You do a walk around in Florida, and you look like you ran a marathon in your uniform. I understand the whole "suit jacket" thing is more or less and industry standard, but as crappy as the shirts are coupled with the equally crappy jackets, we're all gonna look like sweat drenched slobs Oct 1st-whenever it ends. At least with the old blue color sweat didn't show so badly.

I know a lot of guys say we need to go to white shirts, but I disagree on that one. It's a brand thing, and too many people here want to switch to something because that's the way the legacy carriers do it. Asked about the uniforms in recurrent, and apparently there's an idea to scrap them and start all over again since the quality is so bad across the board. When you pay K-Mart blue light special prices (the guy who designed our new uniforms designs women's robes and loungewear for QVC for gods' sake), what else do you expect?

They could fix *some* of our issue by switching to the Van Heusen shirts. It's not so bad for me because I only fly 2 days a month, but even with that little wear I can see issues.

I think the funniest issue is that the epaulets don't fit well on the "epaulet holders". You really have to work at getting them on.

He really enjoyed the stuff that we don't really pay much attention to, like the rain sounds and the thunder. It was pretty cool getting a new perspective.

If you're itemizing. Absolutely.

Now if I could just convince the facebook/internet pilot wives around the world that per diem is for your expenses and NOT necessarily income, we could actually eat healthfully instead of like a junior high schooler with a lunch box.

#petpeeve

I just flew with another FO who carries a lunch bag with him. He came from an RJ right seat (fine), but won't give up the ghost in a number of different ways (not fine, but that's a story for another time).

"You know...we have food on the jet now. And there's an oven that you can use to heat it up. You should try it."

There's an "oven" on the CRJ. I flew with a Puerto Rican dude who would cook stuff on the coffee burner. It was actually amazing what he could do with it. He fashioned a little oven out of aluminum foil...

Nah, this cat swung gear on the E170 for a year, and now is apparently qualified to speak poorly about the 767. Oh, and that he should already be at Delta since he has heavy time now. Wanted to boot him out from FL400. I guess some guys fall through the hiring cracks. Just wish we'd hire deserving types instead.

Anyway, rant over. :)
