Is it OK to ask ID90 questions here

Thanks Bob! Also, are ID90 and ZED the same thing?

No. Well, kind of.

Both are part of interline agreements made between two carriers. And INTERLINE DISCOUNT XX% is XX% (in this case 90%) off the walk up fare. There are ID75s and ID50s out there as well. A ZONAL EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT is based off the route mileage in the "zone" you are traveling. Back in the day you could get ZED fares for a specific mileage on a specific carrier and then redeem it for whatever route you wanted that was that distance or shorter. Now, you buy a ZED fare for specific routes. There is a standard mileage buckets table that all airlines use. Under each mileage bucket, there are ZED LOW, ZED MEDIUM and ZED HIGH amounts. So for example the 600 to 1200 mile ZL might be $25, the ZM might be $30 and the ZH might be $35. Different carriers have different agreements with each other. For example, I can get a ZL on JAL, but a ZM on ANA. My parents can get ZM on JAL but ZH on ANA. United Airlines employees probably can get ZL on ANA but a Skywest employee might be limited to ZH and for the employee only. All of this information should be on your company's non rev info site.

There are two major websites that do all of this stuff. Depending on what kind of agreement you have with the other company, you'd either go to ID90.com (for ID90s) or myIDTravel.com (for ZED fares).

There are also a few one off deals that you may have. For example, we have a deal with South African Airways that allows us to buy a confirmed seat out of JFK or IAD for $600. There also used to be Station Agreements, which were made between station managers at a specific airport. This would allow an employee (normally limited to ones working or based at that airport) to travel free, or super reduced on the other carrier, but only out of that statation.

@///AMG the FLY website is what you want, all pass and travel agreements (that BobdDuck referred to) are located there. You can see what airlines have business class benefits with us, which carriers are ZED, ID90, and the additional benefits (eg, Seattle sea plane companies, Vegas heli tours, etc).

So do you list based on cabin class? As in, can one list for Business on an INTL flight, for example? We're looking at randomly taking the boys to Finland or Iceland or maybe just whatever has open seats, during my week of vacation in feb.

Yes stuff and things explained by those much smarter than I already.

When we had to be diced twice the lead FA was kindly apologizing for things totally out of his control. I politely mentioned I was an airline employee and he need not worry about me at all. I was just happy to be there.

We were solid homies after that.

I think traveling internationally would be super fun if rollin solo and with tons of flexibility. Not solo and not flexible? Not as fun… but still doable.

This might be helpful, screenshotted it a while back:

I normally bring a cheap box of chocolate covered mac nuts for the crew when I non rev on another carrier. I'll hand it to the pursur or 1st at the boarding door, let them know I'm with Palm Tree Airlines on Staff Travel (Europe and Asia don't use the term "non rev") and thank them for the ride. 9 times out of 10 they'll move me to a better seat if something is available or bring a bag of goodies or a big water bottle. I never expect anything and I am genuinely giving them the chocolate to say thanks, but more often than not they well try to take care of me.

Like the Duck said, taking a token of appreciation is a nice gesture when non-reving. I like to take scratcher lottery tickets because not everyone wants to be a fatty with the sweets. However the foreign crews love stuff from Trader Joe’s.

I was traveling with the family last year and handed out the scratchers, one of our FAs won $1,000! Definitely an exciting moment.
