Insurance requirments

Hey all,

Quick question. Touchy subject but want to know advice or if anyone knows information.

A year ago I got a dui (.08) when I fell asleep driving a friend home. (Dumb, yes, yes I know). But thought I was doing the right thing by driving my friend home.

Anyways, I have been cfi'ing for a little over a year now. Got my CMEL/CSEL , IR, CFI, CFII, MEI, tail wheel, hi-perf... Like 350 dual given, 650+ tt, ect..

I know insurance is a pain when it comes to dealing with this type of situation, but aside from instructing (which I enjoy, how long will it take to become hire able at different opperations). The reason I ask is because I recently was hired on the spot for a 91 fo job but then was called 6 days latter and told it wasn't going to work right now, told to call back in a year or two.

Am I stuck to instructing for ever? Regionals ever a option, 91, 135? Any help is appreciated.

My better half is a senior FA at a regional I wouldn't mind working for if companies could ever look past this. Thanks for any advice. (I know I was wrong to begin with, so please don't butcher me) :)

Bummer about the 91 FO job. I'm not sure that it will hurt you forever, but being that the DUI is so recent, potential employers might frown upon it. Time does heal most things so I would say just keep doing what you are doing and give it another year or two. It is easier to explain off as "youthful exuberance" when it is a few years in your past and you are a much more experienced pilot. And keep trying to get that job you are after. Don't let something like a DUI stand in your way. Be persistent. If you keep a clean record and show persistence (even if it does take a couple of years) someone will hire you.
