One of my mom's friends showed up to have her baby in 1981... baby boy was born! Yay! Then a few minutes later, she gets the urge to push again... doc feels up her belly and says, "Whoa there's another one in there!" Surprise twins! Baby girl was born, a total surprise. Baby 1 had been in front of Baby 2, so in listening to baby's heartbeat the twin "in front" blocked the doc from hearing the second heartbeat during her pre-natal visits. I'm glad those kind of surprises don't happen anymore!
If you do it right, think of it as an investment.![]()

Okay, now that is one damn cute picture. Making me miss those days.Plan a huge shower. Hit up the grandparents on both sides, all the relatives and friends. Make a list of everything you need (car seat, furniture, stroller, clothes, high chair, crib, bedding, bassinet, etc.).....get people to pitch in on things together if they can't afford something and give everyone a list, (register at Babies R US or Target) because all the crap that babies have to have, costs a fortune and there is a ton of it! lol Start going to various baby food, diaper, baby toiletries (lotions, shampoo, powder - like John and Johnson), food like Gerber and whatever manufacturers sites and getting coupons....find the items on sale and use the coupons. Start stocking up on diapers this way. There are stores that sell used baby clothes also. Babies outgrow their clothes as soon as you buy them and name brand, in very good condition used clothes are a great find.
As a side note, be prepared for hormone ups and downs with your wife. Make date nights with her and evenings, days just for her that don't include any baby talk and make her feel that she is not only a Mom, but your girl. Get her some little thoughtful items just for herself. Keep the romance going. Rub her feet and her lower back when she gets further along and help out more with cooking, grocery shopping and chores. Spoil her a little. She's going to be through some incredible physical and mental changes.
You are in for the adventure of your life.

And working on insurance??Thanks for all the encouragement guys! It actually means a lot! I'm excited. Going to really have to get my butt in gear over the next couple months to get ready. Have to finish remodeling the house (the babies room at the very least), get a new vehicle appropriate for a family, and now I may have to really think about where I want my career to go.
Up until I found out, I've been really considering the 121 route... But now I'm almost thinking of taking a job with a local 135 carrier so I can be home more nights than not.
ROTFL! That's hysterical!Okay, now that is one damn cute picture. Making me miss those days.
Funny story, when my first boy was that age, we had a diaper pail and I grabbed some hazardous waste stickers from the hanger and stuck them all over the pail.Neighbors thought I was insane. I had them all officially filled out with "related" terms such as son's name, toxicity level etc.

How about when they are crying and you are holding them and soothing them and they start to let go, relax and stop crying and they make those little shuddering kinda sighs. Those deep breath little shaky sighs just melt your heart. You just want to hold your baby tight/close to you forever and never let them go.And yes, babies rule! (even when they are screaming their heads off in the middle of the night)

Well... We couldn't find an insurance company that would cover the cost of childbirth. They consider it a "pre-existing condition". So unless you have insurance pre-pregnancy that may be a no-go. But luckily in the state of FL, it is illegal not to have pre-natal care. So Medicaid will be picking up the tab. She has to go get an official pregnancy test then bring the results down to the Department of Human Services and get that ball rolling. She is currently only working part time so because she makes so little, we will likely have most of it covered... So this is what I've been paying taxes for all these years? It sorta makes a little sense now.And working on insurance??
