Don't forget to put every time you've seen your dentist, optometrist, family doctor for the flu bug, etc. If you don't, YOU'LL GO TO JAIL! That's right, the FAA is going to dig through your files and send you to JAIL for not reporting that yearly checkup for your eyes!

Wow, some of you guys need to relax. If you're claiming medical disability, claiming benefits, and lying about it on your FAA medical, you're probably going to get into some trouble. If you got a little out of hand with your buds, live, learn and be smarter about it next time.

Also in the application for a medical certificate, isn't there a question about ever losing conciousness (sic). I not sure it applies to being passed out from alcohol, but I bet in the eyes of the FAA it does.

Technically you lose consciousness every time you sleep, you don't have to write that down.

Happened to someone I know. He was taken to the hospital by some well meaning friends when he didn't really need to go, he was simply drunk and asleep. Hospital promptly treated him with one Sprite.

Upon renewing his medical, it was denied because OKC required more information regarding the event. He was required to submit a written report regarding the incident, as well as submit a log of alcohol consumption for a certain period of time.

Now, after all that, they did issue his medical, however he did have to play hopscotch through the hoops.

If you don't drink, this career will make you at some point. Most of us have the sense to not have drinking conflict with our jobs, but don't think for one second once off the clock we don't occasionally partake in the ways to defile ourselves. In my experience, the ones that truly don't touch alcohol are rare.

There's a big push right now to get everyone's medical records into a database, so in the not to distant future it wouldn't surprise me if the FAA had access to your medical file (in real time). Big brother is watching!
