I love Lee Bottoms. We took the T-Goose in there two years ago for the Wood, Fabric, and Tailwheel Flyin...great time!

Did they bring in the DC-3? 30 something miles up the road and I still haven't made my way up there to see it.

I've driven by this airport but have never flown in, it's on a remote part of the Big Island in Hawai'i. Sea cliffs on either side of the runway, and it's always breezy there as well.

Funny story about this airport. My buddy says that when you want to depart and the tides are high, you need to count the splashes because otherwise you will fly through a ton of salt water.

Yup. Transiting R-2305 is the only way to get from GBN down State Route 85 to transit to the town of Ajo. So clearances through 2305 can routinely be had, they just have you transit below 2000 AGL, or above 10,000 MSL.
