I want everyone's opinion on this ok... *DELETED*

Re: I want everyone\'s opinion on this ok...

For the sake of argument... can't you log any flight 'solely by reference to instruments' as actual (therefore not necessilary having to BE in IMC)?

Also...what if you were to wear a hood in IMC? Logged as simulated or actual?

And... do you need a safety pilot if you are above FL180 flying with the hood?

Anyways... just food for thought

You're joking right? Thats what this whole stinkin thread has been about.

A person my log instrument time only for that flight time when the person operates the aircraft solely by reference to instruments under actual or simulated instrument flight conditions.

So, if you're in actual IMC (CLOUDS!!!!), you log actual. If you're under the hood, you log simulated.

I don't see the point of wearing a hood in IMC, so I don't know. I guess if you're just popping through some clouds with it on, I'd go ahead and log whatever time you spend in them as actual- because you're in IMC.

The altitude doesnt make any difference. If you fly under the hood, you need a safety pilot...IFR or not. Read FAR 91.109(b) for the specifics.
