I stand corrected, what's it like to fly the ERJ-140/145?

way to highly qualify the statement.

BTW what software load is it now...my experience was with 15.x

FLCH is fine until in the mid-30s and heavy where VS at 500+ to keep a minimum rate of climb going works a little better sometimes.

Y'all climb in V/S mode?

Depending on the company, the one I'm referring to, you can pick whatever vertical mode you want anytime... VS, FLCH, AS, etc... As long as you're in command and know what's going on... have at it... Depending on altitude, density alt, etc... AS mode works just as good or better than VS mode...

No, I use FLCH all the way up unless in the 30s if we're going up to an altitude that's near our highest for that weight. Sometimes it'll stagnate around 200-300FPM for a few seconds if the wind shifts or you hit a different temperature etc., so then to guarantee at least 500FPM for that last thousand or two thousand feet, some people will put it in VS and just spin the speed up until cruise altitude.

I'd say after 10000' 95% of the guys I see fly VS mode all the way up to whatever altitude we're going to. I like pitch mode personally when it gets real bumpy. FLC is good climbing to 10k and descending below 10k.

I like pitch mode. Way smoother than vertical speed. But guys like to micromanage the VS knob. Up/down 100fpm every time they're a knot or two off speed. Pitch keeps it in the ballpark, set it and forget it.

Not enough guys use pitch mode. While I'm also a big fan of VS mode and spend most of my time there, whenever it starts getting bumpy, pitch mode is where it's at.

We're all anal retentive, that's why. Every time I see the captain switch the FADECs to the "A" channel, I can't help but laugh a little...

Does that mean Republic or Shuttle? If so, it's Republic...this week. I think I'll still start 29 April, just not sure which aircraft lol

Looks like we will both be in a schoolhouse at the same time. I'll be feeling your pain getting back into the books on a new airplane. I start mine on the 30th of April.

Just an update, got the paperwork offer today and it was for the ERJ-145 lol I don't care one way or another but I'm starting to see a trend here...

I'd call the recruiter and just double check to make sure they didn't screw it up again.

That's hilarious! Glad to hear you'll be on the red team!

Actually, I think most folks at a regional are on another team:
