I feel that I have been extremely lucky as to my career progression, going from CFI to FO on the CRJ and my first choice regional airline. I love my job, but I feel that I have missed some steps that would have given me a better all around experience. I would have like to have flown night cargo, single pilot, IFR (Ameriflight) for 6-9 months. It's a tough job, but the experience can't be beat. Part of me feels that i'm missing out on a great experience by not going into the EMB-120 first. Everyone I talk to that has flown that plane has great things to say about it, and said it was some of the best flying they have ever done. My last captain is bidding back into the EMB from the CRJ because she likes it so much.
NO FLAME! I wouldn't trade my career path, I am very grateful to be where I am today (at the company, not at home with a broken ankle) I'm not bragging, rubbing it in, boasting, complaining, etc. I'm just saying going straight into the CRJ is going to cause you to miss some good experiences.
Doug: You run a great site, with great members. I wouldn't dare post this at a.net or flightinfo.
