Thanks! It was exciting. First landing there was a dog on the runway, I got to call tower with a "wildlife on active" ha ha. The third take off there was a helicopter coming in through the downwind leg so I had to extend my upwind about a mile. Nothing major but helped get the jitters out, throwing a slight curve ball and proving to myself I can handle it.

From the FARs:

§ 61.109 Aeronautical experience.

top (a) For an airplane single-engine rating. Except as provided in paragraph (k) of this section, a person who applies for a private pilot certificate with an airplane category and single-engine class rating must log at least 40 hours of flight time that includes at least 20 hours of flight training from an authorized instructor and 10 hours of solo flight training in the areas of operation listed in §61.107(b)(1) of this part, and the training must include at least—

BTW- Just in case you're actually logging time of some sort, somewhere- if I find out who you really are, I'm reporting you to the FAA so they can investigate you... just in case.
 
Damn, this forum can be brutal. But I guess that is a good thing, false information is of no value to anyone except to the person using it to inflate their ego.

Nah, this forum is just making sure the people are who they say they are, and questioning stuff that doesn't add up. There are some really bad aviation forums out there that WILL eat their young!:panic:

Yeah, I found a few of those sites. I decided not to join since they don't require a membership to search. I knew even if I asked a valid question I would require a fire suit and a Kevlar shark suit to withstand the flaming and group stomp fest since I am a low time guy. Luckily this site exists and I can learn from experienced pilots.

Thanks! All I can think about is how great it was and what I need to improve next time I go up. :D
 
Yeah....the weather's supposed to be turning warm about now! I'm supposed to fly out of Clermont County on Sunday...the line guys say the runway will be clear, but I've got some doubts..

This is a crazy industry, maybe we'll still have low mins in 2 years? NOBODY knows...

That's a copout. You can become a good teacher if you try hard enough.
 
I will disagree with that. Some people are NOT meant to be teachers, and just not in aviation. It wasn't from that NOT trying hard enough. There is a talent and art to teach to be a good one. IMO.

Then don't go to a 121 cockpit and expect to sit in the left seat because whether people like it or not, captains are mentors and teachers.

If you can't hack it, stay away, please.

actually, just to be straight on...his profile says 25 hrs but he claimed to have 100 hrs now. but still......until doug gets into town and can talk to him (validate info), he's on the watchlist.

i guess it goes to show that what you put in your profile when you join this group and throughout membership, will be taken seriously... I don't know how else to interpret it. :)

Not to play expert on this or anything but I have to disagree. I think some people could work at being a good teacher. However, I also think there are people who just simply are not cut out for teaching. We have all had a teacher, if not a few of them, who just were not good at conveying a message. With flying it is even harder, as a teacher you do not just have to be able to get across a verbal message you also need to be able to build confidence and be trusting.

I guess it would be possible to become a good teacher if you took some classes and maybe visited some psychologists to work out your own issues. But if the only reason a person is being a CFI is to build time I doubt they are going to take that initiative. Knowing that, I personally would prefer they peruse other avenues of time building instead of getting into an airplane with me.
