How long will the hiring boom last?

You guys and your conspiracy theories. I guess that unless you have hundreds of posts you can't be a member or your clique. Bottom line is that I want to be an airline pilot ASAP and don't want to have to CFI to do it.

Planned or not, that statement there speaks volumes.

how many hours do you have?

I'm around 100hrs now. I know that you are the wife of the owner. I'm not here to start any trouble, but some of the other posters really have a short trigger finger, especially for those that don't tow their "party line" on how to become an airline pilot. I've got friends that fly for the majors and they all say that how you get there is not important, only that you are a safe pilot.

they're correct... you don't have to get your CFI but it's preferred because it gives you the teaching skills that you would use when piloting anytime!

As a captain of a regional and/or major, you'd always be "teaching" and that's where the CFI experience comes into play.

but there are other things you do need to learn/know... like an RJ course doesn't really help you out among others. :)

at 100 hrs, i'll give you the benefit of a doubt...since i don't know how many hours it *typically* takes to gain solo signoffs like that..I do know how many hours it typically takes to get a PPL. Thanks for answering my Q's.

btw, it would be helpful for everyone to update their profiles as often as you gain total time...so everyone can know where everyone else is at with currency etc. :)

cHeWIE, do you watch apprentice?

Yep yep. I think this is Omarosa's alter ego. Think about it....Omarosa in the style of stating a position and then the approach to back up that position in 'discussion'. But, a nice mixture of Ben from Lost.....you just don't know what to believe about what this person is telling you. Then, you have an overwhelming dash of Daniel Noriega from American Idol....just all tossed together to make a complete mixed salad. :nana2:

CE-152....:cwm27:

You sure it wasn't a C152....?

I believe the CE would be more along the Citation line of a/c.

Umm...got an 8710 handy? Pretty sure the 8710 forces one to put CE-152, or CE-172. Seriously.

Sorry for calling you out like that. But, I do understand the nature of you post originally was along these lines:

I'm around 100hrs now....

So you've logged 75 hours in the last 10 days? Not that this is impossible, but you're saying that either you incorrectly entered your hours when you signed up for this website or you've flown 7.5 hours a day since then.

Ok, I'm not going to debate whether or not you're a real pilot or not. That's your deal, but I will say that your attitude towards experience and what you think you know and becoming a CFI (or not in your case) speaks wonders about your true lack of wisdom. I remember when I was a 325 hour fresh CFI and thinking I was all that when I passed my CFI ride. Now, about 1,000 hours later, I look back and realize how much I DIDN'T know at 325 hours, or even 500 hours, or even 1000 hours! Heck, I still feel like every day is a learning experience, and that's the way it should be. Don't ever think you know it all in aviation because that's when it'll catch up with you.

haha you saw todays episode? omarosa-free! lol

Hahaha, that's the cutest thing I've heard. 25 hours doesn't even meet the FAA requirements for a PPL. Whoever gets annoyed at this young flight simmer should get a temper check.

OMG.

Me thinks the Proud Pilot should not be so proud.

That examiner must have been one hell of a friend. How much did that check ride cost anyway?

One thing is for sure - the hiring boom is going to be real short for you with answers like that.

"How long will the hiring boom last?"

-Idunno. 'Kinda worried myself.

As for the earlier CFI or not debate:

Most of these airlines that are hiring low timers are looking for candidates with a CFI ticket or two or three. My thought is this, when that man (or woman) looks you in the eye and asks you why you think you would make a good airline pilot, what will you have to say for yourself and your 300tt, 50me? Having those CFI tickets is good ammo, "weather" you've put them to use or not.

Good luck.

Yes, thank you, back on topic. Everyone else please squawk 7500.

I made my decision today and I will CFI regardless. I did my first solo today :rawk::nana2::panic: and in doing so I learned a lot about my abilities as a pilot. I feel that teaching people and recognizing their deficiencies will only help me with my skills as a pilot. Plus, I really want to feel the satisfaction of watching a student roll back in after their first solo and see that look on their face. As a teacher I don't think it could get any better than that, knowing you helped that person achieve a monumental goal.

I only read bits and pieces of this thread but I am gonna go out on a limb and say that you made an excellent decision. Now get back to focusing on those short field and soft field landings...

And to the thread starter:

Me: (Shakes Magic 8 Ball) "Realistically when will all this hiring stop?"
Magic 8 Ball: Probably sooner than later...
