How has your career progressed?

I'm a fourth generation pilot so flying is kinda the family business. My great-uncle started out as a barn-stormer in the late 20's or early 30's in north Georgia/Chattanooga area. In fact, he has an intersection named after him off of the Choo Choo VOR (low enroute map). It is called the OHCEE intersection as he went by his first two initials - O.C.

Anywho, when I turned sixteen and started driving (actually I started driving at forteen, but then again we lived in the middle of nowhere) Dad said it was time to start taking formal flying lessons as he was not a CFI. So, soloed sometime in 1992 and flew through the rest of high school.

Now, I am just going to list the rest with very brief explanations if needed.

1994 - graduated HS

1994 - 1999 - Auburn University, Finance

Summer 1997 - ATP for everything past PPL to CFIs

1997 - 1999 - instructed at LGC and MXF

Summer 1999 - hired by Piedmont-Hawthorne Aviation to fly Kingairs. Finished Kingair check out then promptly sent to the airline division, Pace Airlines to fly 737-200s. Furloughed that fall.

Fall 1999 through Spring 2000 - back to instructing at FFC and CCO

April 2000 - hired by Continental Express on the E145 (soon to become ExpressJet). Upgraded in 2004. IAH FO Rep 2002 - 2004. Numerous other Union positions as well.

October 2006 - hired by AirTran on the 717.

September 2007 - hired by Delta on the 767ER.

I always knew I wanted to be a pilot, but never really seriously considered a career in the field until I was 16. After that decision, I began training towards my PPL. I found JC at 17, learned a lot of stuff. Now I'm 20, still no PPL but in possession of an associate degree (3.8 GPA) and two semesters away from a BA in Psychology from a large, well known state university in the Mid Atlantic. After school is over, I'm increasingly eying the expatriate market or perhaps the military. Things aren't looking so good in the American civilian pilot market.

2006: Started my private at SFFC/UND, graduated high school, got a package handler job at UPS.

2007: Got my instrument and commercial single, got a job at Horizon Airlines CSA, transfer to Everglades University.

2008: Got my CFI and my multi add on, moved to Tulsa, and got a flight instructor job at Riverside flight center.

2009: Back home and trying to get a job at a car dealership to try and pay for my master degree.

2003:

I joined here when I was 14 and was very arrogant. I flew in the right seat of a Navajo and Citation a lot with my mom and had done a few solos in a glider.

2004:

No change, fought with Eagle a lot. Actually I fought with a lot of people.

2005:

Eagle was banned, I also earned my PPL

2006:

Graduated High School, went to Delaware State Univeristy and earned my Multi Engine, Instrument, Commercial, CFI, and MEI. Did a bunch of instruction for a few schools.

2007:

Started flying part time for a company that would lead to the best job I have had. Started flying a Piper 6X, upgraded two weeks later to a new Saratoga, two months later to a new Malibu. Two months later we bought a 414 that I flew everyday for two solid months to build multi time. Two months later we upgraded to a Conquest. We also had an Aerostar thoughout the entire time. Went full time with that company in May and quit my other three jobs. I worked 350 days out of the year and flew 340 of them for a total of 800 hours. Also went to school 190 days of the year. Came close to burning out, but didn't. I really miss those days.

2008:

Transfered to a new school and started taking 30 credits a semster to finish school. Laid off in September, started part time with a company flying two Meridians and a Twin Comanche.

2009:

Very little flying so far. Plan to graduate in May. I miss my old job! There is a good chance of being recalled in the next few months.

Got hired at Ameriflight on a whim. (At the time I was researching five freight operators which included Airnet, Flight Express, Paragon Air Express, Air Cargo Carriers and Ameriflight.). Jtrain helped get my resume to the top of the pile by giving me the DFW ACP's phone number (who immediately set up an interview with me within days of me talking to him on the phone) and by putting my resume on the recruiters desk at the mothership.

Moved to Burbank CA for training and as chosen base. Pfactor8 was my apartment roomate.

I joined May 3rd 2004, most of you don't know me but here goes..

- Started training at age 16 in Katanas at UVSC on Jan 17, 2002, seven months later finished my Private.

- Progressed and got my instrument, CMEL then CSEL at UVSC and the former DC Aviation and Advantage Aviation (if anyone knows who they were)

- In May 2004, at the start of my CFI training, took two years off from flying for religious service duties

- Two years later (2006), the day after I got back started again my CFI training at G&B Aviation

- Instructed at American Aviation in SLC (very briefly), then for 5 months in California, also got my CFII and MEI.

- Jan 2007 interviewed at Comair, took the job where I spent about 1.7 years.

- Sometime in 2008 found out about the Comair furloughs, so I started looking for other jobs. Got my current C208 job flying PIC, but was 50/50 on quiting aviation and going back to school

- Aug 2008, moved to Hawaii (before the Comair furloughs) and am still flying... and debating if I should go get my ATP now....

Over all I'm pretty glad that I left Comair when I did, or else I would be on the street looking right now.

I still like flying.

2003:
No change, fought with Eagle a lot. Actually I fought with a lot of people.

What?

Transfered to a new school and started taking 30 credits a semster to finish school.

WTF? Were you taking "Porn Editing" or something? 30 hours?!!! I'll tell my brief story so I'm not accused of hijacking...

2004 - Go to the greatest university ever.

Spring 06 - Start flying. Get "unpaid" job at flight school through an old JC member and overall badass/great friend...could fly the planes as much as I wanted so long as I had it back in the morning fueled up. This job/jetcareers/frined kept me out of financial ruin and got me flying.

Fall 06 - Quit said job because CFII's left months earlier and was unable to finish IR. Begin washing airplanes...a lot. Finish instrument rating.

Spring 07 - Take terrible job at flight school (phones, toilets, effing cats) to afford Commercial/CFI. Finish both between semesters with like $300 left in my bank account.

Spring 08 - Graduate from the greatest university ever with ~700hrs, CFI, CFII, Comm AMEL (no MEI). Road bicycle to Anchorage.

Fall 08 - Returned home to Dallas. Probably should have taken an instructing gig up north, but wanted to see family and be mobile for ANG/AFRC interviews.

December 7th, 2008 - Uncle Sam offered me a job on my birthday and the day that lives in infamy, and hopefully the next time I'm flying civie stuff will be in some tricked out Super Cub or something hopping around the Utah bush or the Great Salt Lake.

1999
Graduated from a 141 school with my ratings and a CFI. Couldn't find a job and was working as a fueler while searching for a job.

2000
Went and got my CFII
Finally was lucky enough to get a CFII / Co-pilot job in late 2000

2001- 2003
Networked a lot and one my students got me into a 135 freight outfit where I flew as an FO on one aircraft and Captained another.
Joined Jetcareers.

2004/5
Enjoyed my first 121 job as a Saab FO and found out just how much I didn't know about 121 life and flying. JC once again proved to be an invaluable resource.

2006 - Present
Still an FO on a Boeing 727. The JC crew has been very supportive through my furloughs and the industry's ups and downs. The JC crew have helped a ton. I am fortunate to have met those I have herr and within the industry.

Ok since it seems to be the hip this to post your history, here's mine:

'04 - Graduated HS, Started college for a degree in computer science/information technologies. Took Private Pilot 101, got my PPL December '04.

'05 - Decided flying was for me. Got my instrument April '05. Took a break from training during summer, worked for Alaska Air as a baggage handler at SEA, and as a cargo handler for DHL at BFI. Complex and HiPo came with the 182RG checkout that summer at a flying club. Summer was over so I went back to school.

'06 - Finished Commercial SEL in May,picked up an hi-alt endorsment in a B737 through ATOP, got my Multi, CFI, CFII by August, just in time to teach all the new kids coming in. Got my MEI in November. Taught at the school for a couple months.

'07 - Move to a better CFI position (everyone was getting snatched up by the commuters), doubled the pay, better equipment, couldn't pass it up. Taught for a little more until November when I had enough time to work for Central.

Present - Central Airlines is pretty much my life now out of KC, until the FAA tells me otherwise...

Wow, didn't realize that it was less than 2 years from first solo to CFI!
