So I was up at the airport today to schedule some flights this afternoon. I got a new student (WOO HOO!) and he asked for good websites. Obviously, this was one of them.

So I got to thinking about how I've been reading about some forum regulars who are now flying for regionals, flight instructing, etc... I was thinking about where I was when I first found this site. I wasn't even a student pilot with 0 hours, and now I'm instructing and getting ready to send out some resumes by the end of the summer. Just about all of my questions were answered here, and I went from asking to giving advice (some maybe not so great, but I gotta throw in my $0.02)

[Cue VH1 Music] So where are you now as opposed to when you found jetcareers? How far have you advanced in your training? I know I've learned lots here. Just curious to see how some other people have progressed? [Vh1 Music Off]
 
I am in the same boat as you. I discovered JetCareers the summer I started flying (2001). I have been instructing for a year and a half now and I will probably look toward a regional job after this summer. Then again I might just stay put.
 
i too have went from asking for advice to giving substandard advice.

started reading jetcareers in '00. registered in '01 i think. 0 hours. trying to figure out how i was going to come up with the $ for flight school. today, cfi -cfii -mei. this website has been far and away the most helpful resource i have found. thanks doug.
 
I found jetcareers in Feb 02 about a month before my private pilot checkride, and should take my CFI ride in the next month or so. I have learned a lot from this site.
 
found JC student pilot in '01 (or was it '00?), used JC to get to CFI in '04; I've learned more on this site than from any other source.

I hope to be in the same position a couple of years from now.

Yeah, I have learned a lot from this site as well! To tell you the truth, before applying to UND, this was the site (the members) that pretty much convinced me to going there.

I registered in September of 2000 with 0 hours and I didn't get to start flight training until 8/2001. So, for almost a year this was my main source of information on how to become a pilot. This site was and is a great source of information. I'm now a CFI-CFII-MEI and have a ways to go (800tt/93me).

I've found myself at a crossroads. I'm hope to be ready to interview for some regionals by the end of the summer. I've also been asked to stay one more year at my school as a teacher. It's hard to decide if I should stay and teach one more year while instructing on the side and save some cash, or go for a huge paycut fly. I know it's my dream and senoirity numbers mean a lot, but it's a difficult decision to make.
 
I start school Monday. No ratings at all. I give credit to this site in making my decision to go back to school, an easier one. Flight labs start in the middle of this month!
 
I found this site when I still lived in England back in the first half of 2002. I posted asking for advice on where to train in the Zanesville OH area (where I was planning to move). Eagle posted some links in his reply to my question, one of which was for Zanesville Aviation based at Zanesville Municipal (KZZV). Not quite 2 years later I work line for Zanesville Aviation and I just finished up my Commercial Multi-Engine checkride. Zanesville Aviation flys 135 charter, and the future is really looking bright right now

I found this site in November '03, with 0 hours, now have .5 hrs, and about to embark on my ratings/certificates...more props to Doug for making everybody's dreams possible
 
I found this website in early 2000 when Doug had the IFR enroute charts as the background.
 
Found this site as a student pilot in summer of 2001. Just got my initial CFI and am working on the CFII/MEI.
 
I found JC a couple years before my first flying lesson, actually before I made the decision to persue aviation as a career, just strongly condiering it. I've been flying since October and am just inches away from getting my private.
 
That sounds alot like me. I made the decision to get into this field, did some research and came across this site. The info I gained helped me calm the wife's nerves, although she was all for it since day one. She didn't even bat an eye when I told her what tuition was. Hence for, my signature line.
 
I registered around 6 months after getting my PPL. I'm slowly building up some more hours in preparation for a larger flight school.
 
When I first saw this website I had no flight experience at all. Now, I have my Private, Complex Endorsement, and Instrument Rating and I am training for the commercial license.
 
I registered a few weeks after I became a CFI. Instructed full-time for a little over a year, flew some scenic flights and a little bit for a couple guys in Bonanzas, and now am flying SIC in a King Air for a 135 charter operation. I've recently had resumes walked into CommutAir and Express Jet, but no news yet (its been less than a week). I'm leaning more toward the corporate/frac. route anyways, so part of me wouldn't mind just staying where I am. I'm off to Lear school late this summer, so if I don't hear anything by then, I'm staying here for sure.
 
I found JC when I was training for my private sometime in 2000 or 2001. I am now a CFI/CFII/MEI, almost halfway to an ATP, and will be sending resumes to regionals by the summer.

This website has contributed immensely to my career so far, by providing information about options and ideas.
 
I started looking at jetcareers way back when Doug had the old cover picture of him in the 727 cockpit (anyone remember what year that was?)! Had 0 hours, now i'm working on my Private, logged 53.7, and getting ready to head off to San Jose State for the Aviation Degree.
