How Far Along In Your Ratings...

I was referred to JC by a friend just before receiving my Private in March of '03. I lurked around and researched quite a bit until almost 1 year ago today... I registered with JC April 6th, 2003, and began actively participating in the forums.

Since then I have used JC to do a tremendous amount of research on flight schools and finally picked the right one for me. I am now a CFI-CFII-MEI with 500TT and 300 Multi.

Thanks go to not only Doug but also those folks who asked questions in the forums that I would have never thought to ask.

When I first came on to the forums the overall outlook did not look good for aviation... However, there were a few positive and more experienced people that were stateing... "It will turn around." It has turned around and continues to do so. I have seen a noticeable difference in the tone of the threads regarding airline job placement recently. It's been a real treat to see the change occur and I still feel I made the right choice in becoming a pilot. Above everything else... It's fun... That's hard to find in most jobs!

If I never reach an Airline, Corporate, or Cargo job... If all I ever do is instruct... I know I'll be happy... why? Because I'm flying.

No where else do people understand that more than right here on JC.

I started posting here at JC around 3 years ago, when I was a private pilot. Now I have been instructing at FlightSafety for about 2 years and have resumes out to everyone who owns an RJ in the civilized world....

Gosh...I think I found this site years ago....I got my PPL in Sept of 97...sometime after that I found Doug's site. There have been many obstacles since that time...as far as making avaition more than a hobby. I dropped out of site for a long time....but that urge inside keeps calling. With every business trip, I would find myself talking to the crew and discucssing the industry and my current state of commitment towards an aviation career. I looked forward more to the flight itself than the meeting....That is what made my decision. I have since given up a very comfortable corporate career and start ATP's ACCP program next week. So as of today I am a PPL...in 90 days a CFII, MEI..and living what I have dreamed of since childhood.

I stumbled on to the website not too long after graduating Riddle in 1998 but didn't jump in to the forums until this past summer.

I will echo everyone else's comments about what a terrific resource this site is for all of us (in unison now, "THANKS DOUG!"). I will also say that the JC people I've met in person have been terrific folks, too!

Hello everybody....
I found JC a couple years ago...I think in 2002. It was in my engineering cubicle where I sat hours on end with nothing to do that I found this site. It is in my opinion the BEST website for pilots. I had my private license and about 120 hours back then. Now I am a full time instructor (CFI/CFII/MEI) for a flight school in the NE and have over 700tt/50mt.

I haven't posted much since I've been here mostly due to being busy flying but I check in once in a while to browse the posts.
 
I finally got the courage to ditch the engineering gig and got a full time instructing job up here. So far things have been good. I got over 75 hours last month and over 100 hours of billable time so I'm able to pay the bills at least!!

Congrats! I know money was a main concern for you, so I am glad to hear things are going well.
 
Now, if we can only get this weather system out of here, then we can really fly a lot.

I've been watching the site for a couple of years, just started in the forums this past year. Riddle grad, took a "minor" detour in the military, now on shore duty getting ready to get out while flight instructing part-time. 600TT, too embarrassed to metion the multi.

Wow...I probably stumbled across this site a couple years ago when I googled "aviation careers" one day when I was bored.

Yes, I remember the days when Ed was in High School and still had less time flying than Iain. How about when R2F was only beginning his training, or when Chunk was still overseas with the military? Ah, the good old days right?

Well, I guess the time has finally come to embark on this adventure as I have my first discovery flight on the 14th four days after my 17th birthday. Doug, if it wasn't for your site and the good people in this fourm, I'm not sure I would have the knowledge or confidence to actually choose a school and begin training with little or no help from my parents.

I'll try to keep everyone posted on my progress!!
