How do you like Skywest?!

Sorry Omar....

Your pay is based on years of service as a pilot. Your previous life as a ramper only gives you better company seniority. Not sure about stock purchase/bonus program/401(k)...

Same goes with interns..

Curious....is his seniority for bidding purposes based on his compay date of hire or his pilot date of hire?

For bidding and pay scale purposes it's always based on the date you entered that specific department (customer service, inflight, flight ops, etc.). For benefits purposes (profit sharing, travel, etc.) it's based upon your company date of hire.

I managed to slip through the cracks when I switched from inflight to CS and was able to keep my 3 months as an intern. Rare exception though...

aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh RATS!!!! Heheheh No Prob.......Only another 8 months of first year pay to go! heheheh

I've been here almost a month and haven't even started my first year pay yet.

Compeleted systems today, so I'm pretty excited about that though.

Good stuff, tommorrow I will be finishing systems myself.
Wish me the best.

I love it here.

Yes there was no pay in training and the first year my wife had to work but things are improving fast.

I've been here for a year and 9 months.. EMB Captain and so far the ride has been great.

1 year and 9 months seems great for a EMB captain. What EMB aircraft do you fly?

I was awarded the EMB-120 upgrade bid for the base I wanted after 1 year and 2 weeks with the company.
However the EMB record is 4 months! It was really an exeption when we opened Houston and not too many guys wanted to go there.

The upgrade times change as we take deliveries and open new bases. If we don't get any new markets and once the deliveries are on the property it'll slow down.
But again folks are leaving to the majors too .. so hopefully the fast upgrades will continue for a while...

Yah, my old CFI from Sunrise Aviation was hired two months before me and was just awarded IAH upgrade. I just removed my bid for upgrade in all cities except PSP, SAN, FAT, and LAX. I think it should take me about another 1.5 years if I want to stay in california. It might be sooner if our deal with northwest works out.

A friend of mine just got command on the CRJ. He was in no particular hurry to upgrade, and just wanted to enjoy - not so many legs, more enjoyable ride, flying to new destinations. If he did not get the command on the jet in 2004, he was going to EMB-120 to get command. Do not race to the finish line enjoy the journey a bit.

Did you let the cat out of the bag?
What Northwest deal?

It is a little talk going on between SKW and NWA right now, hopefully it will materialize into some flying soon. The sources are reliable, but anonimous.

Doubt Southwest will go that route. I think a large part of their business model is that they only operate one type of aircraft, and only have to buy parts for one type of aircraft.
