How do FE's log flight time?

For new engineers, we used to take all the light caps and place them neatly on the FEs desk. Let him put them back in the proper place.

I think it was National that flamed out a 727 with the engineer that turned ALL boost pumps off while at altitude. Some turned 1 pump off but this guy had 'em all off.
 
McLovin' the FE stories. And I don't have a clue what any of you fools are talking about...Thailand? Good food, but nothing else to see there. Geez...:p

3 Things you don't want to hear in the cockpit (cause if it has an engineer it ain't no 'flightdeck').

1. Co-pilot says "I have an idea..."
2. Captain says "Hey! Watch this!!!"
3. Engineer says "Oh #### !!!"

LOL, it's more fun when you have a quick level off and the the green light is still on and you get the amber ENG FAIL push to cancel lights...

There are some classy ones in the Orion. The rudder trim is located on the center panel between both pilots, right in front of the FE. One FE would mess with new copilots during night ops by laying his "junk" on the rudder trim.

Had another who would "set condition five" wearing only his NATOPS required gear (steel toed boots, helmet, and SV2). He was known as "Nick the Richard" and not because he was an ass. Once one of the spooks had fallen asleep right after takeoff, and old Nick decided to jump up and down in front of the young lad until he woke up.

I remember we had an inflight tech (CPO)that was hanging out in the flight deck while we were flying all night over Bosnia. He got banned from the cockpit for excessive farting. So he heads to the head, and breaks the code. But instead of throwing the turd bag in the doppler well to freeze, he takes bag and furtively places it behind the FE seat behind the pedestal in the dark cockpit. He wanders back by me at the SEVAL station to wait. The A/C, FE and 2P start yelling at each other and screaming at me for Chiefs whereabouts. I tell him he has been back here by me all the time. The melee in the cockpit almost turns into a fist fight with accusations flying and I guess it stunk. Finally the FE gets down out of his seat and picks up the turd bag and screams WTF is this Schiesse? The other 20 of us having finally been briefed on the joke almost peed our pants from laughing. (Breaking the code was when the first person defecating in a plastic bag had the duty to carry all turd bags of subsequent defecators.)

Hey, how many packs have you smoked? I've smoked at least three during my freshman year at Southernjets on the 72.

I cranked the packs down once to get the aircraft cooled off, wasn't watching the temperatures and "WHOOOOF!" the cabin's full of smoke.

Little old lady (we're in between flights so she stayed onboard) walked up and said, "It's ok son. Everybody smokes one on occasion" in a southern drawl.

That's an aircraft that I'm glad I got some experience in.

I think FE could be fun for a while. I remember having posters of the Concorde cockpit and being amazed at all of the work that went into keeping that bird flying.

A guy I used to work for did it on the DC6, he said in a year, he had 19 engine failures, but it was so mind numbingly boring that he also had a dozen magazine subscriptions, and book club memberships. Ask FlyOrDie, I think he still works for everts.
 
Yeah, and I currently have a netflix subscription for my current job.:pop:

At least that office moves and some of it is loggable. About the only benefit I'm getting right now is the learning through being within earshot of instructors' briefings. Not saying it's super exciting or perfect, but it'd certainly be different. I'm not averse to reading.
