How do FE's log flight time?

Like the title says. I'm guessing it wouldn't be SIC.

You really don't actually. You can log it as second officer (NOT SIC) or Flight Engineer time if an employer really cares, but it really can't be used for a whole heck of a lot.

Start a column for FE time.

You can count up to 500 hours of towards your ATP time requirements but there are restrictions on it.

See 61.159 for the details..

What does an FE Certificate look like? Have never seen one - they should make the plastic card certs like credit cards where you can choose different designs or can the FAA be trusted with such creativity yet? :P

Alex.

Looks just like every other FAA Airman's Certificate. Will say: Flight Engineer - Turbojet, Flight Engineer - Turbopropeller, or Flight Engineer - Reciprocating; depending on which type you have earned.

Personally I would love FE - Reciprocating....but I am not sure any of us have the knowledge to be FE's on a Connie or other heavy reciprocating iron. The FE station on a Connie looks like an incredibly complex puzzle. Those guys earned their money.

You could be the FE on a DC-6! Everts takes anybody who comes on board, and makes em' fly sideways for a year before putting them in the right seat

LOLs. Seeing your avatar makes me miss KSEP. I'll probably take a trip out there when I get back home. GOOOOOOD COOKIN'!!111one.
Best BBQ anywhere, and they like pilots enough to trust them with the Golf carts. I've always loved that sign:D

When I got my turbojet F/E one of the instructors had played piano on some big recips. He said, "On a turbojet, an FE can screw up and get you in trouble. On a big recip, an FE can screw up and kill everyone."

Many FEs considered the engine and airplane THEIRS. The pilots just got to fly it.

Makes a 727 panel seem like kid's play
