Horizon

It really can't, and there is no reason to think it would be in the next few years either.

That may be true but between now and the time that transition is finished, someone could get a job at another regional, make $20-30,000 more first year, upgrade in a year, and start interviewing at LCCs. Like you said, you should look at the long term, and the industry is cyclic, so it's best to ride the wave now while it lasts.

Sure, someone could do that. You are totally correct. That decision is a long and hard one to make, giggity! Where I'm at works for me but wouldn't work for others. My view is optimistic and long term. When I got the job offer no one was hiring and upgrade times were 12 years. Now it's a hiring free-for-all and two year upgrades. That all changed in just under 14 months. I'm not saying don't come to QX but I'm also not saying not to not come to QX. I mean do your homework. Buyer beware. Smoke bomb!

New fleet type? Larger turboprop perhaps?

Things are OK. We are very very busy. I fly 80 to 90 hours per month. If you live in Portland it's awesome because there are lines where you're home every night. We are expanding and there is hope for a new fleet type. We have a nice bonus for FOs.

They're supposed to get their Q200s back from us in '18 on lease returns.

Lots of fun drawings and phallic hieroglyphs on the back of smoke goggle panels

Maybe it's a 121 thing but I just don't get the whole "drawing on the airplane" meme.

It's dumb pilot humor. And I love it!!! Don't know where it all stems from, but we've always had a thing for "tagging" airplanes in the military. Outside of that, I can still remember the laugh I got when I opened the escape rope panel on a TSA EMB-145 and saw a photo of Honey Boo Boo pasted inside. I'd say we don't do enough of that!

Seems pretty junior high imho.

Looks like we're canceling flights due to lack of pilots now. Something like 22 flights yesterday and 13 so far today from what I can gather. Thousands of passengers trying to get home for the holidays are getting screwed because Alaska and Horizon management doesn't want to pay their pilots a competitive wage. "Fly Nice" my foot!

Planes used to be highly "decorated" by crews, mx, and fuelers. I would say the decorating has fallen off greatly in the last several years due to P.C. IMO
