I heard it somewhere, that the ANC was actually a really popular base, and they ended up having no trouble filling up their new base there.
When I started ground school in January, my entire class was hired with the expectation of sending us to ANC, but about a week later, it changed to "you're only going to ANC if you volunteer", and I believe we ended up with people going to every base in the system by the end of training.
Given how expensive it is to live up there (plus the fact that the only flying is Fairbanks turns right now), I'm surprised it ended up being that popular as a base for FO's.

The rumor on the Alaska ramp here is to expect the Q's as the -400 combie's time out over the next few years and are replaced by straight freighter aircraft.

Yep. We'll pick up the ADQ flying again the first week in September and have it until May 31st.

In other news... Bombardier announced the Q400 Combi today. Maybe a good option for the Alaska market.

Damn boys, y'all are late to the party...came out of the 15th that Bombardier was going to build the Combi. 2 undisclosed customers in serious talks...QX has 8 options...hmmmmm
