Has anyone on here gone through initial recently?
I'm wondering the same thing... Seeing as they have AQP, does that have any effect on how initial is run?
Has anyone on here gone through initial recently?
No sim for me. And it wasn't because I was sent home either
I finished all three interviews then went back to the lobby. A few minutes later they gave me a conditional offer pending a background check and sim evaluation. I accepted then went back for f ingerprinting, pee test and company ID picture. I went back to the lobby and was later called back to the meeting room and was told that I did very well with all three interviews, plus my prior 121 time that I didn't have to do the sim eval. They gave me a stack of memory items, procedures and flows to have memorized before class and sent me home.
Three of us interviewed: a CFI from Phoenix, a KC-135 guy from Spokane and myself. The CFI was sent home after the last interview. The 135 guy was sent to the sim and later sent me a text that he passed.
For those of you who have interviews coming up, the whole process was very laid back. Everyone was very friendly in fact, almost everyone who walked through the lobby stopped to shake our hands.
I finished recently. AQP is much nicer than the traditional PC. I felt like it was a better process for training.Has anyone on here gone through initial recently?
I'm PDX, but I waited 5 weeks. Another in my class waited 2 months. Doesn't seem to matter much where you're based. I took my first 2 trips out of MFR, 1 out of PDX, then 1 out of GEG.
Keep in mind, I was based in PDX. They just DH'd me around to pick up trips from wherever a Check Airman was available.I knew they sent you to MFR the first time but not the second. Joe asked if I had any requests for IOE basing so I asked for OGG.
Haha... oops. I bet they get off with a stern warning.I just got a call from a classmate who finished LOE on Saturday who just got called for an IOE trip. Scheduling told him that they tried calling 2 other guys who have been waiting ahead of him who weren't in base when they were supposed to be. No idea what will happen to them (if that is even the case) but just a heads up.
Holy crap that sucks! That sounds familiar. When I went through, I was given a couple of "OE reserve" days. I would usually call in the morning to see if they were going to have anything for me. The odds of a trip popping up later if you've already been told that they don't have anything are slim/none. I still wouldn't travel super far from home, but I wouldn't be overly concerned about a 2-hour call out at that point.
In other (sad) Horizon news, we had a Captain pass away while on an overnight last night. Cause of death has not been determined. He was a good dude... I'd hung out with him a couple of times as we both were into motorcycles. He was 47.

It can vary quite a bit from bid to bid. This next bid looks good... I have a mix of 3 and 4-day trips. Some lines have CDO's, some have 2-days. A reserve line has 13 days off. What is the trip mix like for line holders in SEA? How many days off does a reserve get in each bid period? Thanks.
