Holiday Attire

So it's that time of the year everyone likes to get all festive and show their holiday spirit. Anybody out there wear Christmas ties or Santa hats with their uniforms this time of year?

I don't work nearly enough to make it worth it, so a "no" for me as well.

Plus, even if I was flying regularly, I'm seen in the terminal for what, 30 total minutes on a 4-day trip, before I take my tie off in the cockpit anyway?

If they had some clip-on holiday tie in the crewroom for $5 I'd maybe do that.

Do all airlines allow it in their uniform regs?

I'm sure there's some that do prohibit it but I'd guess most allow at least a holiday tie of some sort.

Where I work they say Thanksgiving to New Year's is okay.

No.

If you want to dress up like a circus worker...

Join the circus.

However, you know what, if you can find some simple Holiday colored prep-tie, and you can pull it off without looking like a tool - well done. However, considering most of the middle aged clowns out there are wearing some stupid Ornament, Stocking, Candy-Cane abomination that it is just embarrassing to see a professional running around like a circus worker. A cheesy Christmas tie is still cheesy, regardless of where it is worn - the Airport, the Office, or a Cockpit.

Yeah, I'm the Grinch.

Looks better than a leather jacket...which is to say the leather jacket looks really stupid.

So for the whole month of October, how many flight crews wore pink ties? Not that I did, but a lot of people participated. I don't necessarily think it looks cheesy though depending on how much crap is on the tie.

At least I'm not the only one who thinks this.

I mostly agree.

What I really think looks bizarre though, is when one pilot has the blazer on and the other has the leather jacket. Blazer, jacket, fine, but the company should pick ONE. 100% blazer or 100% leather jacket, I don't care either way.

Can never go wrong with a crisp blazer ever! Plus I don't know about other airlines, but it's pretty tough to get a $400 leather jacket on 1st year pay.

are these acceptable then?
