Hiring tracking (opposite of furlough tracking)

Virgin America ran a class this month. No class for July. One class of 4 pilots each in Aug, Sept, and October. Interviews to start again in November, possibly earlier. Last update was interviews again in August. But now it seems they may be as late as November.

I applied for a Saab Captain position and was invited to interview. During the interview I was informed that the mins for Captain had changed and that I was no longer eligible. I was offered a Beech FO position. Apparently all hiring is for the Beech for the time being.

Yeah, the mins for Captain positions changed a couple of times just during indoc. There are guys in my class that would not be in their current position with the new mins. Sucks, but from the how many interviews they were doing and the change in the interview schedules just when I was in FLL makes me think that they have a ton of resumes coming in right now.

You have confimred what I have heard. All current interviews are for the 1900. Does that mean they are through hiring off the street for the Saab? Who knows, but with the expected growth, I would be willing to bet we will see more Saab new hire classes in the future. I think they have a 1900 class that is starting this coming week, and I think another 1900 class after that. I know they just had a 1900 class finish and (from what I understand) that has taken enough pressure off the 1900 flying to allow transitions to the Saab.

Are you guys getting less flying from the Pentagon with our foreign adventures (presumably) winding down?

Yeah, 2012 has been very slow for DOD work. In fact, January and February I considered "scary slow." We're picking up a good amount of civilian work, so things are actually pretty busy right now. Just a lot of changes going on, and the owner (privately held company) holds the cards pretty close to his chest. No furloughs though, so that's been a good thing.

who do you work for?
I would assume with his screen name he works for Atlas.

If you want to come to RAH (despite the contract drama) were probably going to be running strong until the end of the yr.

CHQ it's more senior, S5 and Republic it's more junior. You can probably go there within a month or two after being hired, but at CHQ it's over a year to hold a line. There's not much hiring for S5 right now, mostly CHQ (145) and Republic (Q400). Q400 is PIT and DEN though, not CMH.

Is all of the hiring to the Republic certificate going to the Q?

Yes, all Republic new hires are on the Q400. CHQ maybe a class here or there but nothing solid.
If you want to start tomorrow go in asking for the Q. You'll get unofficial bonus points. Trust me. I can't state that enough.

The 170's on either cert aren't running any classes.

We are running interviews every week at HQ and doing road show interviews.
Send me a PM if you have any additional questions. I have a pretty good understanding of what the interviews are like.

Did we slow down classes at CHQ also? I thought there was at least supposed to be a September and October class?

I'll find out for you this Friday about CHQ classes.
I don't think there are too many, the focus is really for the Q's, for obvious reasons.

Yes.
As a rule of thumb, you can only transfer to something that pays more than you currently hold. Since all FO's are paid the same, on all equipment, the only move you can make is an upgrade.
However, you are able to base swap until you are blue in the face, (I think there are time limits, but I'm too lazy to search the employee handbook).

I'm not sure where CHQ new hires are going; However since we have only 3 Q bases (DEN, MCI and PIT) you will most likely be able get what you request on your dream sheet out of the school house, or shortly thereafter.
