Got an email from NATCA today regarding many things, but one was about the Hiring freeze....here is the the portion of the email....
"In discussions with the Agency on other issues, we inquired about two items that prompted many calls and emails from the field facilities to the national office earlier in the week; 1) the reduction of service from the Raytheon instructors and 2) rumors of an ATC hiring freeze. The FAA responded that the Raytheon contract was simply being scaled back to its original amount. So while the word in the field is that they are cutting by 30%, in reality the contract was 30% over budget and they are simply bringing those expenditures back within contractual parameters. Regarding the rumor of a hiring freeze, they said there was no hiring freeze. They did relay that some lines of business were pushing back the hiring of their allotment until later in the year."
So they didn't lower their hiring #'s. Just delayed. If I get anything else I'll let ya know
