Seriously. The average conversation goes like this one for me:
"So what are you majoring in?"
"Philosophy"
"...what the heck are you going to do with that?"
"I'm a pilot, that's what I'm hoping to do. The philosophy is a good pre-law in case I don't make it."
"...you mean you're not in the college of aviation?"
"No, I left it my freshman year."
"Why? I thought it was good."
"It is, it's just not for me."
"But you can't fly airplanes without a degree in aviation can you?"
"Actually, a large amount of pilots don't have aviation degrees."
*The look of confusion starts here, then it's like a frigging lightbulb goes off in their head and they get this big smile on their face*
"....so I have a friend who's second Uncle twice removed fly's for Northwest. He used to fly little planes, and then decided to just start flying with Northwest for something to do. He does not work more than 2 days a year and makes $160,000 a year. Some gig eh?"
"That's not exactly how it works."
*now they're angry*
"Yes it is."
"I have a class to get to."
