Help end the Cargo Carve-Out

You're wasting your time putting that much thought and effort into it. The Senator never even sees the emails. None of them do. A staffer sends a form response and keeps a tally of what constituents on saying on the issue. A certain number of tallies means it may be worthwhile bringing to the Senator's attention. Otherwise, she doesn't have a clue that anyone is even emailing about it. Once you send the original email and get on the tally sheet, you've done as much as you can do.
True enough. But I'd suppose it's better than doing nothing.

True, but there are ways of earning more tally$ per communique.

There is another push to end the Cargo Carve-Out.

Please take a couple minutes and fill out the form letter. Everyone can help and the ultimate goal is one level of safety.

Thank you.

One level of safety, absolutely yes, but I don't accept that one set of regulations accomplishes that. If anything, I think flight and duty rules for overnight operators need to be even more restrictive. Under the current model a guy can report at 6PM and fly up to seven legs.

My opinion any leg that starts or ends after midnight ought to be an augmented crew, and that's just for starters.

I agree. That's how we run the overnight international freight runs between Taipei, Nagoya, and Incheon. It'd be legal 2-man, but they toss a third guy on anyway.

Opinions don't really mean much if they're contradicted by science.

Whaddya mean? We airline employees regularly have opinions in contradiction with facts. I think it's a reg somewhere actually....

Of course I take your meaning. And my observation is based on nothing more than just having spent a fair amount of time on overnight cargo jumpseats in recent months. I've heard a lot of complaining, and seen a lot of tired pilots. Just makes me think that instead of pushing to end the carveout, it'd be better to have your own rules. But that's just my opinion. No facts anywhere to be found.

Sorry, a little late to the game.
Done.
