Hegseth lifts suspension, cancels investigation of Apache pilots for buzzing Kid Rock’s house.

Debating whether or not a regulation was broken, or what ruleset the flight should have been operating under, is a secondary issue. These are all things to be sorted.

Through proper channels and processes. Those exist for very good reasons.

The Army is not being allowed to manage its own processes and people. This is the central, and I would argue, more serious issue at hand.

The bold is important, and kind of highlights why people are assembling for No Kings protests. What we're seeing is that Soliders (or Sailors, or crayon munchers) don't have to follow rules of their respective branches or DoD if the SECDEF or CIC approves of their misconduct.

Sure, but also, you know, "dude I gotta get a picture" - unprofessional as hell, but not the craziest thing in the last couple years.
By no means, again no one is screaming this is the end all be all stunt.

It's more the continued disregard for rule of law. Nothing wrong with pointing it out.

Sooo...just let them send it?

Or revolution?
I don't know what this ends up looking like? But... both are plausible. I would prefer that we got to the mass civil disobedience stage a bit faster though so we could maybe not have the revolution thing or the brutal authoritarian thing.

Regardless, squawking about it on JC or really anywhere is not going to fix it. We're all gnashing our teeth over the shattered rules and the damage to our sensibilities, etc.

I would argue that the best thing we could do is strike generally. Every industry, every person, etc. that would likely shake the halls of power better than anything else. Then also, sustained civil disobedience by a large fraction of the population. We could start there and see how things go. I would really prefer not to live in Syrian-Civil-War but speaking English if you don't mind. There's a lot of gap between "just let them" and "revolution" - regardless, we have to realize that they're literally causing outrage faster than we can process it.

People need to start saying "no, I'm not going to do that" a lot more often. In all walks of life.

I agree with you, but also, "they're inside the ooda loop here guys, by the time you've processed this crazy they've already done 30 more outrageous things, that's why their revolution is successful currently."

Well......

under the hood this has always been true... it's just the leadership was a lot more critical of the ramifications of bad behavior in the past.

The word "apocalypse" really means like an unveiling, a disclosure of the truth, etc. In a weird and poetic way, that's what is happening right now, a sort of "unveiling" of the true rules of the world. These times feel apocalyptic because they quite literally are. The nice pretty rule book that we had been collectively hallucinating is a mirage and we all kind of know it now. We can choose to accept this regression to the historical mean, or we can say "no, we put that veil on for a reason, unmitigated and un controllable power is hideous, cover that • up!"

It's up to us, but it's certainly not going to get fixed by appealing to the outrage of the moment. People have to actually do things or say "no, I ain't gonna" otherwise the shameless will not really stop.

I agree 100%. What we're witnessing here is that there are no crimes or infractions in the DoD if you were being a Patriot or following the SECDEF's "Warrior Ethos", even if that violates laws here, abroad or the Geneva Convention.

A distressing percentage of the population is in favor of the violence.

Hugh Thompson got death threats for YEARS…

This.

@Pilot Fighter I don't think most folks are rushing to any judgement per se. Poor optics of the incident aside, an investigation was welcomed & very much warranted. However due to SECDEF's apparent lack of restraint or honor, any sense of reason was unilaterally squashed.

Despite the admin's desires, they cannot rule by fiat and we shouldn't stand for it.
KS guard unit used to use grandpa's strip as an "LZ" back in the 70's. They asked for permission, always gave notice of when, and loved my grandparents (sometimes they'd shut down to look at the antique airplanes, grandma usually made cookies, if I was around I'd "fly" the Huey. It was really wholesome and kick ass. Not like the PedoMeth Kid thing).
