Healthy food ideas for the road?

I know we have some health conscious people on this site so I wanted to see if anyone wanted to donate their healthy food ideas for life on the road. Time to abandon the airport crap food and high sodium butter filled hotel dishes. Thanks for the ideas

I do baked potatoes on the road quite a bit. (Sweet or regular potatoes.) I stuff em with some leftover meat (perhaps chopped BBQ pork or brisket) and a veg on the side. Very doable from the hotel microwave.

Make wraps. I usually make some grilled chicken and bring deli meats. But in your case you can do veggie wraps or even just grilled chicken.

I always have dried fruit to snack on. Almonds or trail mix too.
I think we’re at the same place. Look ahead to where you stay, many of our hotels don’t offer a microwave.

I rarely drink soda, always a few bottles of water each leg. Even more the FA’s are attractive.

Tangential to this - have you guys found relatively healthy food in the kiosk/airport vendor places like Hudson News?

I travel a lot as a pax, and I'm continually struggling to find something that isn't loaded with sodium or sugar. I don't mind fats so much - but the sodium/sugar thing is pretty hard to fight.

Most of what I can find is either something like trail mix (which has a lot of sugars depending on what you get) or dried fruit (decently healthy, but again, sugars.) Wraps are higher-carb (but lower than regular bread, I'll concede) and most of the lower-carb/low-sugar protein bars are sawdust-filled bricks.

I do get lucky and find jerky sometimes, and that's not too awful, but I'm wondering what else you guys find/eat?

I've noticed that some airports concessionaires are dabbling with organic / farm-to-table fare. And sometimes the prices are quite reasonable. When it comes to shelf-stable products, I just bring my own fruits, veg, etc. Also, Amazon Now can be a good option for replenishing your stores on the road.

If I’m not going international, I’ll typically bring in paper bowls and bagged chopped salad, tomatoes, sliced almonds, grilled meats, etc - and make killer salads.

Wraps using home grilled meats are also good, as are canned soups for the hotel (makes the rollaboard kinda heavy, tho). Go-to snacks are hard boiled eggs (grocery sells them packaged in 2’s, de-shelled, with little salt and peppers), almonds, ostrim sticks, or power bars.

Usually, I spend a great deal of time packing healthy stuff, then end up eating crap on the road anyway, because it’s more appetizing!

Read somewhere that dried apricots are actually really bad for you, cause of the sugar content. Sucks, cause I really like dried apricots.

Still can't figure out how guys/gals make them beforehand without getting the tortilla soggy. I'm guessing the best method is put meat/veggies in a container and then have the package of tortillas with you. Then make as you go or in the hotel before the day starts if it's not too early? Just ideas I've thought of in my head, I hardly meal prep anymore to try it.

That’s what I do. I assemble them at the hotel as I go, otherwise it gets soggy. I mostly like to pack food for half the trip then eat out the other few days. Or if I get in really late each night, I’ll pack for the whole trip because usually nothing is open.

TBH, I can’t keep track of what’s healthy anymore. I hear now bacon and eggs are good for you but fruit and whole grain aren’t? I’m so confused.
