headsets for the CRJ

God now I know what you guys are bitching about in the RJ. I sat in the very last seat against the window last night coming home from SLC. I sat next to a guy who was 6'2" and probably weighed 220. My neck hurt, my back was sore, and I felt closterphobic when we finally landed. I had my turbine all bunched up to use as a pillow.

The Canadians did a horrific job of designing the interior of the BarbieJet-200.

The Canucks who designed it that way need beatdowns for it...

Dude, the windows in the -200 are not meant to actually be looked out of! The -700 is much, much better in the back.

And, it's 'turban'.

...as well for the design and operation of the ECS!

In every car the automatic A/C works quite fine, but not in the RJ.

Try sitting there in an MD-80, plus you always have the excitement of never knowing when the engine will explode and kill you (well it happened once, but it could happen again :-).

Like this engine on one of your company's CRJs

Just to let you know seggy--the CRJ's engines have a kevlar lining around the N1 blades, which is supposed to keep them from rocketing into the fuselage and beheading people. I kind of assumed it was BS and that it wouldn't work, but the NTSB report said that despite the fact that the whole N1 section flew off, there was minimal damage to the fuselage. I think that was the guy' point.

You had a point you were trying to make I'm sure, what was it?

The same point you were trying to make, crazy stuff happens on airplanes, the MD-88 incident, was an isolated case, much like the CRJ case was. Your company is COUNTING THEIR LUCKY STARS, that the engine didn't go tearing through the cabin. It could have happened, but God was with those people on that flight that day.

Yeah, the Beech has Kevlar as well by the fuselage parallel to the props. The official reason is to protect the airframe from ice being slinged by the prop heat, but I wonder if it there also to protect the cabin from a stray prop coming on it!

I LOVE the WHACK, WHACK, WHACK it makes and when the passengers comes up and taps us on the shoulder and tells us there 'is a problem' because they are hearing a WHACK, WHACK noise.

:)

WHACK WHACK WHACK WHACK WHACK for 90 seconds on one side

WHACK WHACK WHACK WHACK WHACK for 90 seconds on the other side

Repeat.

The ATR and Dash 8 have big fat reininforced panels on the fuselage adjacent to the props as well. It's the same thing--they're for ice protection. Mesa's Dash 8's that do the colorado flying are heinously torn up on the sides from ice slinging--it's a bad combination, to be flying in a lot of ice and not want to spend any money repainting airplanes. :)

I just had the clarity's recommended by my new hire roommate. Sounds like its a good headset. I'll prob sell my bose now and buy those and the QC2's for my commute home. If anyones interested, I'll sell them the Bose for $675.00 I recently had it on ebay and it sold for $710 plus shipping. I couldnt get my money thru paypal because of a snafu, so it didn't sell. It's in good condition. I just recently sent it in because the bracket that connects the headset to the ear plug broke, so they replaced both sides, as well as installed brand new leather ear pads. The thing is good as new. If anyones interested email me.

Good ole DC 13.4's for me. But after a 8 leg day my head feels like it weights about 200lbs. We were slingin ice today, had some nice new dents on the side of the pannels.

Yeah- I've got a pair of those too. I just don't wanna be 40 and deaf. Once you make the leap, you wonder how you ever wore the DC's. I sound snooty don't I? I'm just a little more happy since I got 9.75 hours of sleep last night. The previous 5 nights I had no more than 3-4 hours of sleep. I don't know how students in med school, et al, do it.
