I was more referring to modern automation that you or I haven't seen yet. The automation available in the brosef shouldn't increase the PMs workload, AT ALL, during hand flying unless they are horrible, and you'd be in grave danger either way at that point.

Eh. When you're in a completely new environment, and in crappy weather clicking on the autopilot is one less thing to worry about. Sure its not the most advanced plane, but the autopilot helps in situations like that.

Kind of, I guess, in regards to that particular kind of automation. The flight director is going to the same thing with the mouth breather flying or the circuit boards.

Main point was that while this thing is the absolute cutting edge, it's still flying. Until there isn't anyone sitting up front...

More OT. This thing is going to get the same flak from the "LOL, bush pilot types. HAHAHA THAT'S NOT FLYYYYYIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!". Different kind of flying, but the pilots ARE still flying the plane... Many MANY are worse at button pushing than the worst stick and rudder guy. Actually, I associate "good stick and rudder" with "this guy is going to fly like an idiot" these days... Usually "good stick and rudder" is also accompanied by a "but".

For anyone under the age of about 60 learning a new automation system should be no big deal.

Come on! At least Airbus has a side stick. Boeing needs to pull its head out of its ass and adopt. It's purely an ego thing now for Boeing.

I wonder if there is a turbulence mode or something. At least for the radios. I've been in some fairly gnar-gnar turbulence that made it hard to do stuff even with knobs. And I could at least hold onto something.

Also keeping screens clean with greasy BBQ eating G-wiz pilots. YAY. DERP LOOKE ERMERGERD IM A GEE WEEZZZ COCAPERN.

Greasy fingered mo'fos.

GAH! I agree. But FFS, the stick on the left should match the stick on the right when it moves, and vice-versa! Whoever thought that it shouldn't was a good idea is responsible for more than a few deaths.
 
To me, the placement of the backup PFD (it looks like more than "just" a back up ADI) looks a little distracting during normal ops. When it's needed, though, I'm sure its just where it needs to be.
