Hello all!

I've been lurking here for at least a year and finally decided to join. As my post may imply, I was trying to find some info on Great Lakes. They recently posted on their site and on Will Fly for Food for FO positions.

Has anyone from here applied or heard anything back from them if they did apply?

Thanks in advance!

Here are the links for those of you looking for a job with them.

Allow me to excuse myself and make this appropriate for the forum I was posting it in. Here are the links for what you desire. It is indeed in the right section, they are hiring, and there are jobs available.

Let's see the pay SUCKS and you don't get paid during training.

It was a place to go to rack up TPIC time after upgrade but if things go bad do you really want to be stuck left seat at Lakes?

Do you have any better jobs out there? The fact that you can go there, upgrade after a little bit and then log TPIC until this economy gets better... I think lakes looks alright now. I wouldn't have wanted to go a few years back, but you don't have much to choose from now.

You know the pay does suck, and from what I hear they get flown to death.
But It is truly a regional in my book.
They fly in my neck of the woods, I hear more people that don't fly for the complain about them than people that do, so what ever that means.

I might put a resume that way someday when I don't want to CFI anymore .

For those of you going to interview or know people who are, what are the competitive times?

Pay might be bad but still not anywhere near as bad as what I'm making now... ya its that bad.

Not to be a double-debbie-downer, but if you've got a problem with a post, use the "report post" button in the lefthand panel of every post and let the mods decide if it's a violation. The last thing this place needs is everybody playing traffic cop.

If I wasn't stuck living paycheck to paycheck at my current job, maybe I could afford to deal with the lack of pay during training. Sounds like it would be some fun flying.

I had a friend who worked for them for about 9 months....they offered him left seat several times and then never followed through. He got paid about $11-12k a year after taxes working the line. This was about 2 years ago.

I interviewed with them in April of 06 but did not get hired because my Jepp knowledge was not good enough at the time. If you are going to interview with them I suggest you study up on every little detail on Jepp plates....and I mean every little detail.

What kind of detail did they ask for? I've heard that before and have wondered what I may be overlooking in the charts.

Also, someone earlier asked what kind of hours they are hiring at; I would like to know that one as well.

Thanks

When I interviewed with them I had 800 hours....not quite sure exactly what kind of hours they are looking for but probably around 800-1000 as a min.

I can't really remember all the details of what they asked but they did ask about VOR's and how you can tell the difference between High altitude and low altitude VOR's and how you can tell the difference on the Jepp charts. Also what the dimensions were of both. There were also alot of questions on the lighting systems for runways and how you can determine exactly what kind they are etc etc. I reccomend that you look over the charts and the plates and every tiny little thing on them that you are unsure of or don't know what it is get to know it. They like to trip you up in the interview with the questions about all the little things you never think of.

I applied on their website last May and got a call back. My times were 600 ish and 30 multi even though their posted mins were 750/50. I had to turn down the interview cause I couldn't afford 5 weeks in DEN making $0 during the training. Good Luck!
