As it ends up, I can't go to the interview anyway. I'm in Southern Texas and all flights out of here are routed through Dallas. Exactly where the Superbowl is taking place. Everything is booked. Should I call them about this or send an e-mail?
Hi, I just got offered an interview at Great Lakes and I have not called yet so just wanted to see if they provide a buddy pass or anything out to DEN. I currently live in the Ontario, CA area. Thanks.
They dont.
They want you to pay for your ticket to interview in denver, you cover your own hotel.
For training they DONT pay you and they DONT provide lodging.
So, expect to dish out a couple thousand dollars and then relocate just for the "Privilage" of earning $16 an hour.
Honestly, great lakes makes my blood boil. A true insult to the industry.

Wow. It truly shows how determined some people are to get into 121 I guess... Certainly more than I am!

Let's try this again..I guess it's common sense to YOU, hence me asking. (why it's bad that your first airline interview is a place you "really really" want to go)
Just looking for an explanation. First time I've heard that it's a bad thing. "see post 18" is not paying it forward.

In 5 years you will also talk to a guy in a food court in some airport, he will be an FO at some major airline, and you might be an FO at some regional, and you will talk about what you were doing the last 5 years, and this will be the stories.....not at all saying this is you, but I have heard story's just like this before.
What some of you guys on here fail to realize is that there's a whole, wide world of flying outside of 121. Five years from now, I REALLY hope I'm NOT standing in some line at the food court. Hopefully I'm at home after returning from my day trip. Or worst case, snowboarding in Aspen while my boss teaches his kids how to ski.

So I guess I should up the limit on my credit card and pay someone for the opportunity to sit right seat in a turboprop. After all, it would get me in a bigger hunk of metal sooner down the road, right?
Ya I do not know much about corporate, just not sure you will see the 100K+ in corporate, I feel like only a VERY few guys see that in corporate, while some guys see it in 121. Also I know airlines offer crappy job security, but I feel it is better job security then hoping some rich guy can keep affording his jet.
A lot of assumptions going on here, with out much backing it up.
