Because what "she" is saying isn't true. My guess is it's somebody Seggy has dealt with in the past with the union. I've been in the career for a long time, been watching it since the late 80's, and don't know some of what "she's" talking about. There aren't any girlfriends out there that dedicated to somebody else's career to read ALPA magazines for fun. How many girlfriends would challenge a very prominent member of this site and who has done tons of ALPA work on ALPA issues and ME3 issues?
Wow, this is my last post in this thread, so lets put this to rest. There are others on this forum that know that I am real, am an actual girl, absolutely love planes and aviation, and read an enormous amount each and every day. This includes the aviation publications every once in a while that the boyfriend gets, including the ALPA magazine which I skim over and spend no more than 10 minutes looking at, because it is terribly boring and negative. He doesn't read it, and I give him a pass to avoid a lot of reading, because he flies all the time. If I see something interesting, which typically is in the news, not in the magazines, I will tell him. No different than having a regular conversation. He is one of those pilots that actually loves his job, and hasn't turned into someone who is overly negative all the time. No, I don't know Seggy, but was informed about him by other members and it became quite clear that his agenda always seemed to line up with what was popular with ALPA. Nothing annoys me more than someone that plagiarizes and doesn't have their own viewpoints, but adopts the viewpoints of others. Not only that, his insistence on ruining threads and not welcoming newbies is puzzling. Will he change? Unlikely. Do I think he is a horrible person? Probably not, but I don't exactly see the friendly side on this forum. He can be downright disrespectful to people more senior than him, which I just don't understand. I find it hard to believe that someone that grumpy exists, but there is a first time for everything. He is the one that brought up ME3, and again, I don't really find it an urgent issue. I know about it, but there are bigger issues to worry about right now. Chances are, they won't be showing up in the ALPA magazine, so until then, Seggy will be all about ME3 along with a lot of you that tend to follow suit.
I found the advice on the thread by
@Derg surveying for his friend to be extremely helpful because the application process is something that was news to me, so the clarification in that thread and candidness was so helpful to understanding the frustrations my boyfriend and some of his friends were talking about. I do want him to be happy, so understanding that certainly helps that. I don't really care who he works for, but will support whatever decisions he makes. They aren't mine to make, just his. But, I didn't join the forum for him like somehow people made up...and he warned me about forums for this very reason. I joined for myself for my career in Dispatching. Now, that group is super helpful. But, I am not going to lump all pilots on this site together, because there are a ton of great ones that are welcoming, show the good sides of things, and are genuine. It is sad that some in the group tend to take away from that.
Again, you all can argue until you are blue in the face about what issues are important to you and why they should be important to me. But, I don't really care. I am able to decide things for myself. If you don't agree, that is cool with me. The fact of this thread was that Delta is a good company, but acted a little spoiled with the whole theatre/gate thing. Yes, they could do whatever they wanted, but I had every right to voice that opinion. This thread wasn't about me, but because I don't agree with all of you, it turned into personal attacks. Mature? Not so much. Let it go.
Happy Father's Day to all the Father's out there...hope you get to spend time with those that really matter.
