Great Job Delta!

From the article:

2017 is a peak year for the plan with nearly $1 billion of work expected to be underway, including parking deck construction, five new gates on Concourse T, terminal modernization and preparations for a new 10-gate Concourse G.

The plans showing the mid field terminal

I saw something similar to this with regard to PHL back before I moved away - I seem to remember it being the new 9R/27L. 10000' monster that would require substantial filling in on the Delaware. When I have some time later on this afternoon I'll have to go find it, but these kinds of drawings don't get anywhere without some sort of colossal funding from Congress. That's what killed ours - Well, that, and UPS didn't want to move ops to the southwest side of the field. Again, I'll have to go look it all up. It's been a bit.

God damn impressive.

And CLT just broke ground on the new control tower.

Difference is, like all things CLT it'll be delayed another four years.

ATL is no different with timelines. Projects always get delayed and modified. The International Terminal was supposed to open in 2006, and that didn't end up becoming a reality until 2012. Such a cluster. This will be as well.

10/28 cost close to a billion dollars. Delta paid for over half, with the Feds and state paying the rest.

Gotcha - and thanks. I honestly did not know. Will keep doing my homework - I know I have a lot to do (as wwith DenyNAI still).

It wasn't so much UPS not wanting to move as it was the lawsuit from the families in Depressington that we're going to be evicted via eminent domain. I understand that lawsuit was settled last year in a manner that was beneficial to all parties with no one being evicted.

I recently heard that the new CEO of PHL has put the 5th runway on hold, saying it isn't necessary right now. Seems the current projects are lengthening 27L/9R by 1500', lengthening 8/26 to 7000', straightening taxiways, redesigning the Terminal B/C check-in area, and moving the control tower.

If @Avgirl is so concerned with games then where is her outrage with how much money some countries owe airlines?

@Seggy What games are you speaking of? Didn't mention any games. If you would like to have a productive conversation, bring it on, but from what I can tell, I don't see many productive conversations coming from you.

Hahaha productive conversations from ME????? Let me ask you again, why are you on here?

I will not be lectured by someone like yourself and your skewed views because of theater sponsorships and airplanes an airline is flying about the threats to my career.

I wouldn't call refusing to budge when you have your own customers to worry about something that is "rude". What is rude is choosing to put somebody else (Qatar---->Delta) on the spot. Qatar was the company that made the choice, not Delta. It's really easy to fool people into feeling sorry for you. I see it all the time on subway.

The spoiled brat starts whining, Delta ruined his flight and the poor disabeld grannys had to walk a long long way to make it to the terminal. I'm feeling so sorry......

Wicked? Oh, LOL.

A lot of places big-assed airplanes fly to use airstairs and people movers.

Hell, 90% of the time we flew the ER to many parts of Europe we'd be on the remote ramp.

If you want to guarantee a "Gran' ENTRANNNNNNNNS" better to coordinate that than assume that you're going to get that gate instead of "Welp, it's got a double jetway system, we can park our 330 there".

If that didn't happen that way, then Delta should have had a more strongly worded statement to them, and refused from day one to open up those gates. The airport asked them for use of the gate and Delta said that they would work with them, but then conveniently couldn't find a way to shuffle their planes months out. I would have liked it more if Delta had played the same card that Qatar did with that comment. Even better, up the ante with a big pile of salt? ;) I don't know, I am not good at pranks, but I am sure that someone has a good idea out there. I am not saying that Delta was wrong for not allowing that, just that they were wrong in how they went about it by playing the "we can't move our plane."
And this statement was just proven 100% incorrect with the facts that came out yesterday

And how long of an airport appreciation taxi tour, was that from touchdown to the gate?
25 minutes or so, I think. Was a while ago. Last time I was there was at midnight local, so we came in on the north side (I think). They don't let us SFO people out there on the regular.
