If you like spicy food...and in particular shoarma I have a good place for you in a suburb of AMS called Leiden. its a bit of a train ride, but its actually a pretty cool town. I have yet to eat there sober, but what I vaguely remember each time to be a damn near life changing experience. And they keep some strange hours. The first time we went there it was 3am and we were getting off a train from downtown AMS.
 
You know, I've been to "Den Haag" a billion times, and only AMS once when Kristie and I were escaping nonrev-hell in Berlin about a year ago and just left the country entirely by train.

But we're changing hotels in the AMS area since, after the merger, we actually OWN a hotel in AMS now so I'll have to look for that.

But in terms of Shwarma's, man, it's goign to be hard to match a "Jackies Shwarma" from Tel Aviv. Legendary.

I presume so, but I'll dig around and find out for ya!

My first reservation was that since "we" owned a hotel there', they'd be pretty crappy but from what I've heard, they have really good service. I guess "we" also own a hotel in Japan as well.

It makes sense since a single layvoer might mean at least 11 hotel rooms on a daily basis just for one aircraft. Start factoring in A330's, 747's and 777's, that number just keeps climbing north.

Yeah, in AMS and NRT that just makes sense. I've frequented both locations (and lived in Tokyo for a while) and in both places NWA had a presence equal to or greater than the home country's carriers.

On that note, time to take some nappage. Lemme know what you find out though. CAuse those are both places that I would love to frequent if I had a cheaper place to stay.

Sorry to disappoint you Doug, but if you want a real Shwarma while in Israel you have to go to Haifa ;)

Now, if you are looking for the best Humus in Israel, visit Abu Hasan in Jaffa. Doesn't look impressive at all from the outside, but I guarantee you - you'll be back. Opens till 2 pm only.
