Got a letter from the TSA

Interesting.

I know that my Part 141 school I was employed at kept the records of a student's citizenship.

I, as an instructor, was not tasked to maintain any documentation on such since the school was a Part 141 establishment and the TSA/DHS and the FAA had given the school written permission / authorization to maintain the files in such a manner.

But, I love it. Go figure. Make them spend some taxpayer money and have them come speak with you. They'd be lucky to get on my front porch.

I see that, now. Now THAT is just STUPID!

I am NOT taking responsibility of securing copies of peoples' birth certificates or passports. No way. "Here are the addresses of the facility (school) where they are maintained. Good day."
if one worked at a flight school that may or may not be adequate, as the way it is written a flight school is a flight school, and an instructor is a flight school.

clear?;)

But under what regulation or law am I required to inform them where I am and where I am working?
Under what regulation or law? Are you serious? Its the TSA, they do what they want, when they want and they don't have to answer to anyone about any of it. They make up the rules as they go and they only tell you what the rules actually are when they feel like it.

Just tell them you haven't actively instructed. How would they know.

A small bit of advise, falsehoods to a Federal Official, even from someplace as ridiculous:drool: as TSA is not a good plan of action. They may or may not be able to prosecute you, but they can make your life miserable for awhile.

Unless they can give me chapter and verse that gives them the authority to know where I work they can kiss my ass.

This is still America, though many have forgotten that.

TSA is the worst, they don't have to go through the normal regulatory process of public hearings and posting in the federal register. They just declare it an emergency security directive and wallah its a regulation

And as we saw earlier this year, in certain cases, they make a rule (which over extends their reach no less), and tell you that you could be arrested if you violate said rule, but when you ask what the rule specifically is, they tell you that they can't say because it'd be a security risk. Whiskey tango foxtrot?

It is an organization that needs to be stopped in a huge way. But sadly, I don't think it's realistic to expect within my normal life expectancy.

Notice that it doesn't even have your name on the letter? They are fishing for info. That goes straight to the trashcan in my house.

I wonder how much junk mail that email address receives, and if any of it was due recipients of that letter distributing it to spammers.

Here's my question:

Why is it relavent whether or not I'm "actively" instructing? Whether or not I am, I carry the certificate and can climb in a plane tomorrow morning with a brand new student regardless of what I've told TSA, and have certain requirements to comply with. If I tell the TSA that I'm not actively instructing, yet I decide to start with a new student next week, and then TSA "catches" me instructing, am I in hot water now? In other words, do I lose my capability to instruct unless I notify TSA that I am now actively instructing again?

Anyway, I probably have the same letter in the mailbox at home. Doesn't look like a subpoena to me; I'm not planning to respond to it.

Oh I already round filed it, if they want to talk to me, they can earn my wasted tax dollars and find me.

They have the idle hands syndrome. They are assuming that if you aren't instructing, surely you must be plotting some sort of terrorist attack :whatever:
These bone heads need to stop getting paid to compensate for the lack of FAA participation when it comes to aviation security. Keep them inside the airports where they kind of belong and stop meddling. ;)

I keep asking for a chapter and verse that says I'm required to take off my shoes but that's not going anywhere either.

Just request to have secondary screening if you go off.

I never had a problem, and I kept my damn shoes on. If I went off, I'd take my belt off. If I kept going off. . .I'd just recommend that they do the secondary screening and get it out of the way so that the paying passengers behind me can actually get to the gate on time. Usually, the same passengers who mindlessly keep taking their shoes off because they don't have the spine to say no.

I asked to talk to a supervisor. I was sure I was going to get arrested in FLL. Standing there in uniform, ID badge and all...unbelievable.

Ah Comrade, you are very wrong..... This is now the United Socialist Republics....
Next year TSA will assume responsibility for all toll booths and re-task them as KGB checkpoints, then those mainstream capitalist pigs will begin to pay for their crimes....

Stay in view please, sir....some Comrades will be coming to talk to you shortly....

Next question- how does the Politburo define 'actively instructing'? Part of the double secret squirrel 'chapter and verse' that we as citizens aren't allowed to see, I guess.
