Goodbye DSL

Good luck, as long as its not Time Warner.

In which case, I advise you to buy a cheese grater and a bottle of Jergens lotion.

Around here, Time Warner has a lousy cable system that hasn't been upgraded for more than a decade, and it's a bureaucratic hell to fix it when they eventually double-bill you one month.

While living in Tulsa I had Cox highspeed for all 6 years while there. Not a problem in the world! I have now had Time Warner in KC for a year and absolutely hate it. They have been out here three times telling me my signal is weak and said they "boosted it". Same problem day after day. I'm getting really sick of having to re-load web pages. This is with a brand new computer, router and their modem.

I have had good luck with Time Warner cable, but in my area it was an all new fiber network built only six years ago. After some recent upgrades I get a solid 15mbps, up from 8mbps or so, and in that six years I have never had a single outage or problem. We get our phone service through cable as well, and it has worked out very well for the two years since switching.

I suspect that with any of these companies that your mileage will vary depending on your region and the quality of the local network.

I'm out of the dark ages.

Comcast, engage!

Fast so far, faster and cheaper than DSL... so far.

We have comcast and haven't had a single problem with them. Pretty speedy too. But again phone companies are one of those things, ask people for their opinions and you'll get 30 different ones on the same company.
