Good luck Republic dudes and dudettes

The guess is the restructuring would be shrinking the airline to better manageable levels based on expected attrition. Apparently we have a sort of fleet problem. The model the management wants is one fleet type and one certificate. Deltas 145 extension this spring threw a monkey wrench in that plan. Getting rid of the 145s and the Qs could solve the pilot issue.

On top of all that we have the C series on order and who knows what the plan is with those. But I think a restructuring deal could take care of all of that.

So that might be how a chapter 11 would take care of the pilot issue. I have no idea just speculating.

@ATN_Pilot they may be out of money, but Bedford is making RAH be the sacrificial lamb to blame it on the 'union' (happens all the time) and the rules that came out of the Colgan accident. So having so much gusto, pointing it towards the finances is only part of it. Bedford, in my opinion wants this to be voted down to go on a PR mission to make Americans hate unions more and try to legislate changes to those regulations.

So back off a little on the 'well they don't have any money/they need to get planes off the books' part of this. It is only a half of what is going on here IMHO.

Lay off the conspiracy theory, Wookie. This is all about the numbers.

The numbers that show their airline performing well below their rivals financially, while having to pay their pilots among the lowest of the regionals? I don't know how Bedford can have a job, especially with oil prices being so low. What value has Bedford provided to the shareholders you claim to care so much about?

I'm no fan of Bedford. He's a superstitious wackjob who is deserving of no respect. Doesn't change the financial reality, though.

Of course it does, fire him and bring in someone competent. What has the man done to deserve such job security? I don't know why the pilots get to be blamed for running the company into the ground with their greed when their still being paid less than average.

@srn121 I have no dog in this fight, well perhaps a few good friends I'd like to see move onwards and upwards...

I need to remind you that RAH doesn't pay for fuel. It's part of the FFD scheme.

I'm in GA so I don't understand the regional industry as well as I should and the more I learn and the more I see how cut throat the companies are to the regional pilots the less I'm interested in working there. Still I've yet to see anything this Bedford guy has done to justify any sort of confidence in his performance going forward.

I'm sorry, but you just don't understand how the FFD industry works.

In that case, I'm hearing bankruptcy and everyone on the street. They can't afford more, folks. It's that simple.

Have you inquired much about the contract proposal? Doubtful by your statement. They're throwing money, but the hang up, if it fails, is in the language. It would be a slam dunk if the company didn't purposely leave holes.

They leave holes to save themselves money. If you got the work rules you wanted, it would cost them a hell of a lot more money. The pay rates are designed to end the staffing problem. Work rules don't get people to show up on property at regional airlines. First year pay rates do.

OOOOO $40 an hour! That's more than XYZ regionals.

6 months later.

WHAT? I don't get paid for this canceled segment?

Sorry, but I take thousands of lost jobs and millions of screwed shareholders a bit more seriously than that.

Republic is a publicly traded company. This stuff ain't top secret, folks. Look at the numbers.

Don't want people who aren't at your airline to comment? Then don't post it on a public forum.

But you're not at any airline. In fact, you're not involved with professional aviation in any manner. So why do you feel the need to comment?

In fact, I still do consulting work for investment firms regarding the airline industry.

But that's beside the point. Anyone can comment on a public forum. If you don't like that, then only post in your internal forum.
