Well there goes those pilots' jobs... I have a couple of buddies that work there and they tell me that management will not tolerate "any mistakes". AKA things like this. And I recently met an ex-CA from GoJets that was let go for missing a commute to work. He worked there for a few years, perfect record, and it was his first time ever having something like that happen.
I'm facebook friends with the airport manager and he had this incident on his status yesterday. Something along the lines of 66 pissed off pax, media trying to get out to take pictures, pilots blaming the airport, etc.
It's not the "airline" Teamsters union though.
Nice to see that "union standards" are neither. It's not the "airline" Teamsters union though. .....
Seems unreasonable in this situation - will the SouthWest pilots that slid off the taxiway in Islip also lose their jobs??
As much as I'd like to rag on Gojets, this really could happen to any airline or any crew. If you don't think it could happen to you, you're part of the problem. Hopefully something comes out of this situation that we all can learn from to avoid doing something similar in the future.
I don't know... We aren't talking about SW. GoJets has a history of firing or letting pilots "voluntarily surrender" the position they hold for lesser events than this. I was just saying it wouldn't surprise me if the CA lost his job over this.Seems unreasonable in this situation - will the SouthWest pilots that slid off the taxiway in Islip also lose their jobs??
Southwest Airlines doesn't have a history of doing that. They didn't even fire the "stuck mic captain".I don't know... We aren't talking about SW. I never said they did... How did we even get SW started in this convo?Southwest Airlines doesn't have a history of doing that. They didn't even fire the "stuck mic captain".
I believe STS-41B asked a question.I never said they did... How did we even get SW started in this convo?

I'll take "airlines that frequently go off runways and taxiways" for $200 please Alex.
