GoJet Interview Questions

MikeOH58: I did not change my mind in 1.2 hrs. I am going to interview with Mesaba to see what the interview process for an airline position is like in person, since this is the first one for me. If I do not get the position, I would like to fly in other fashions that do not include flight instructing or flying 121. My ultimate goal is to fly 121, but I do want to maybe fly night cargo for a year or so I get more hours.
i'm confused....your going to interview at Mesaba, for an airline pilot position? so you don't have to flight instruct?

how many hours do you have?

If you go under the hot topic forum in general topics, you'll see all the GOjet topics and why you would not ever want to work for them.

Sorry for confusing all of you with what I am going to do with my life. I will do my best to help you guys and gals out.

1) Going to interview with Mesaba (my first 121 interview) to get experience with 121 interviews (my longterm goal is to fly 121), and potentially get a job
2) If I do not get a job offer, I would like to find another job that is not flight instructing or flying 121 for at least a year.
3) When I get more hours, I will go and interview again for a 121 job and fly for the airlines as a career pilot.

Hopefully this clears it up for you. It is amazing what one harmless comment and question can start. I wish all of you would respond to my Mesaba thread like you do this one. And thanks to those who have responded to my Mesaba thread. I really appreciate it.

Pilotman, you did the right thing by coming here to ask about GoJet. Now you know to avoid them, and you won't ruin your career and your reputation.

I wish I could help with the Mesaba interview, but I don't know anyone who's interviewed there lately. You could also try asking over on flightinfo.com or airlinepilotforums.com to get the most information possible. Mesaba is a great airline, and you'd probably be able to upgrade to Captain in less than 2 years. Good luck.

"Velocipede may be more opinionated than an average drone but his beliefs are in good intention and they all make sense."

They are well intentioned from his point of view. They don't make sense to me. Ask any Alaska pilot looking for a ride to work on Jetblue if they think Velo's hardline is a good idea.

Problem is, to work in the "night freight" biz you usually need 1200 total, which is hard to get to without CFIing. I'm sure a few folks will chime in on other ways to do it. Airnet's program? Flying pipeline patrol? Aerial survey? Towing banners?

Perhaps since you work in freight and your contract is not under assault EVERY DAY by protoscab airlines like jetBlue, Virgin and Skybus, you should keep your "opinion" to yourself.

When we start talking about the difference between UPS and Cargo 360, then your input will be of value.

Additionally, since you're not ALPA, I highly doubt you have the slightest idea what is contained in Section 115 of the Admin Manual, so once again your "opinion" on the subject is less than worthless.

That puts you right up there with your average jetBlue pilot when it comes to opinion value.

How about toning down the rhetoric? Your message loses much of its value when you post with an "attitude".

Pilotman254:

1. Go to www.aviationinterviews.com

2. Under pilots click on "Register"

3. Scroll down past the part where they make you pay and click on the tiny little link that says "Old Registration" <-- Its free!!

4. Read your heart out on airline interview experiences.

5. You'll notice GoJet isn't even listed on the website since its such a garbage airline :D

6. Welcome.

They're non-union carriers.

But for real, my definition of scabs is pretty much what GoJet is. How did Skybus, VA, or jetBlue pilots "steal jobs" and put others out of work?

They aren't "scabs" in the normal usage of the word in this profession, but they certainly bring the profession down. That's why Velo uses the term "protoscab" and I usually say "pseudo-scab." They aren't really the same thing as an actual strike-breaker, but they're almost as bad. When you take a non-union job doing the work for a fraction of what everyone else does it for, then you're destroying the profession.

"you should keep your "opinion" to yourself."

Ummmm....I don't think so.

You gotta have something better than that.

Alaska pilots living in New York may very well wish to ride on Jetblue to get to work at their base in SEA. One renegade Alaska Capt, pushing his personal vendetta, wants to prohibit that.

I'd leave it up to the wish of the majority of pilots at Alaska. When they vote, as a group, to follow Velo's example, then more power to them. Until then, Velo is pushing his personal agenda upon his pilot group, which could result in negative consequence's for his brethren pilots.

I'm as pro-union as the next guy. However, all are welcome on my jumpseat. Some will have some explaining to do enroute, but I won't deny the seat to anyone who CASSfully has a right to be there.

I just can't, in good conscious, use the jumpseat as a tool to push my political agenda. And trust me, I have one.....
