GoJet Airlines

Umm...Airdale is in training with RAH...I don't think he's looking for validation guys. :panic:

:yup: Thats funny.

:yeahthat::yeahthat:

Do we even have a union?? Teamsters has been pretty much nonexistent throughout all of training...

Oh, well okay, obviously I don't work there...

A devildog, has always told me good things about Teamsters. He says they're pushing hard for industry leading pay rates for the 170-175 flying because RAH is the largest operator if the type worldwide.

And because Bedford wants and has orders for many more.

As for Netjets, I know they're good for them, not only from what they recently go with their new TA. But because we have a trade unionist for NJA over on my board.

No, I am not looking for validation here and I'm not trying to be contradictory. I knew the thread would attract a lot of attention, but I don't want it to get out of hand.

The reason for the thread is, I'm in training at Flight Safety and we frequently come across GoJet guys wearing they stupid leather jackets with "GoJet" on the front. There are mixed opinions by those in my class. Some do not like them, others say that because they have a Union now, that everything is okay. Just wanted to see what the general consensus felt about them now, having a Union.

I wouldn't work there, but I just don't get the reasons why someone would want to.

And Andy, we had the Union talk to us already along with pizza. Dues are a bit expensive, especially first year when we don't have any protection from the Union. But I guess since we are working under their contract and work rules, might as well pay our dues as well, which is okay with me. Just disappointed that the extra money I would be making here will be dwindled by health care costs and Union dues.

"...only real pilots fly the Junglebus." ;)

Well, that's more than we got. We complained like crazy after nobody came, so apparently they got the word and decided to come talk to the later classes.

I'll give Teamsters the benefit of doubt here and chalk it up to not being able to talk to so many new hires, but it still bugs me. We're in negotiations now, so hopefully we'll see some nice changes in the "somewhat" near future.

Dave~I'll call you tomorrow and give you the fridge/microwave...just had my checkride. :) I'll do a writeup after I drink a few beers today or tomorrow.

I believe this is all true. A Union is better than no Union, so Teamsters is what we have to work with and thats who we will unite under. I believe RAH will negotiate in good faith and Teamsters seems to be focusing a lot of effort on the contract over here, since we're the largest group they represent. We'll see what happens. I'm just glad to be working under a contract. Hopefully Teamsters and RAH come up with a new contract soon. Supposedly its in the works.

...on another thread topic...when the hell are you going to get your flying sh&t in order Max?? Come on already!!!

...soon, very soon ;)

No exact dates, becauses don't want it to bite me in the ass, should they not pan out.

But, been working with a jc'er who wants me to go to his school. I really think 08 is my year.

Only thing that could screw it up is getting laid off work, due to the recession, and thus not able to pay my bills.

Save that I should be ready to go sometime this year. Sooner, rather than later!

Oh, and I've started to see RAH E-170's here in PHX for Frontier.

Think of you and Jason when I see em!

Cool man...I really hope you can get it done soon.

We just started PHX this month...I'm really hoping we continue to move west and add more and more flights. I won't comment on any rumors..there are already enough out there. We'll see what the next year holds.

You had the RAH 170 as an avatar for awhile. Which is what makes me think of you and Kingairer when I see them here.

Did you actually get the "F9" side of the business, or did you just like the pic?

No...CMH to start. Nobody gets F9 out of training...though it's my only bid in right now. The average time has been about 6 months to get based in Denver. We'll see how that changes and if it goes up or down...

CMH is a new base and though the commute will suck, I probably will have zero reserve time, so that will make things a little easier.

CMH=UAL or AAA, or both?

ATL still wide open? ;)

My wife saw a GoJet pilot last summer and said he is a pilot like you.

Me: He is not like me.
Wife: Why not?
Me: He is a scab. Notice how the logo is missing from his jacket and hat. That says I can't be proud of where I work.

Its mostly the pre unionization guys I have a problem with. Any one who goes there now isn't as bad. However be prepared for the ####storm that you are stepping into.

No offense, but I feel that using the term "scab" to describe GoJet pilots lessens the impact of the word. I don't feel that working for GoJets is the moral equivalent to crossing a picket line. Crappy, yes; but not scabbing.

Yeh, they are not quite scabs..

Perhaps - Peseudo-Scab.. Honorable Mention Scab? Scab's Maid? Sorta like a brides maid but much more... d bag like.. ;)

Please let's not turn this into a name-calling episode.

The term scab has a specific definition, and it does not fit in this usage. There is no union strike occurring, therefore the term scab can not apply. Think un-highly of them if you want, that is your right, but let's save the term "scab" for it's definition.

Let's stop the name calling here and now, and keep the discussion on track and civil.

Well, here's something else I've thought about. In this hiring environment, it's not unheard of to have RJ FO's who weren't even pilots seven or eight months ago. They weren't around to see how GoJets came into being, have little industry experience, and relatively few connections in the industry. How does a new guy looking for an airline job know where he is or isn't supposed to work? Whose standards should he go by?

I looked on google to see what the angst was all about, and I didn't find anything. I think it's a valid point that if someone just wants to get into the industry and gets a call from Gojet or Mesa, they probably won't know that they "aren't" supposed to go there.

It also sounds like people are saying that them getting unionized under IBT doesn't count as much as joining ALPA. Aren't they getting better working conditions either way?
